Review: Absolut Watermelon Vodka

Absolut Watermelon Vodka was just released.  It is one of 16 flavor varieties Absolut crafts with a vodka base made from Swedish winter wheat sourced from 450 local farms.  One kilo of wheat is needed to create 1 liter of vodka.  The wheat is milled onsite and blended with water and a proprietary yeast.  A continuous distillation process is used with steel column stills and copper plates.  The vodka is filtered once through a mesh filter.  Pure deep well water from naturally filtered aquifers is softened through reverse osmosis and blended to reduce to proof.  Natural flavors are infused before bottling at 76 proof.  Absolut Vodka was first released in 1879 in Ahus Sweden, and launched globally in 1979.  Absolut Vodka is currently the fifth best selling vodka brand in the US, and the second best selling vodka world wide. Review: Absolut Juice Pear & Elderflower

Absolut Juice Pear & Elderflower was just released.  It joins the previously released Absolut Juice Strawberry, and Absolut Juice Pear that launched Absolut’s 5% real juice infused Absolut Juice line last April.  Absolut struck gold last year when they signed Lizzo as a celebrity endorser.  Her hit song Juice was a perfect fit for the Juice brand, and her Absolut Juice video has been viewed by millions.  Elderflowers grow in most of Europe and are in bloom from Mid-May until early June.  They are probably best know in the US as the main ingredient in St. Germain Liqueur, a French made Elderflower liqueur.  Absolut Juice Pear & Elderflower starts with the Absolut vodka base that is made from Swedish Winter Wheat sourced from 450 local farmers.  One kilo of wheat is used to produce one liter of vodka.  The wheat is milled onsite and blended with water and a proprietary yeast and fermented for 2 days.  It is continuously distilled and filtered once through mesh.  Real fruit juice and natural flavors are infused before bottling at 70 proof. Review: Absolut Juice Apple Edition

Absolut Juice Apple Edition was recently released along with the previously reviewed Strawberry Edition.  Both are real fruit juice infused vodka’s.  After years of ridiculous flavored vodka, the industry is focused on three flavoring trends.  Zero Sugar, Real Fruit, and Real Fruit Juice Infused.  Absolut Apple starts with the Original Absolut vodka base, which is made from Swedish winter wheat sourced from 450 local farms.  Once the spirit is distilled, it is filtered through a mesh filter, and reduced to proof with pure deep well water.  5% real apple juice and natural flavors are infused with the vodka base before bottling at 70 proof. Review: Absolut Grapefruit Vodka

Review: Absolut Lime Vodka

Review: Absolut Vodka

absolut vodka - CopyAbsolut vodka was launched in New York in 1979.  It is crafted with Swedish winter wheat sourced from 450 local farmers and pure deep well water from naturally filtered aquifers in Ahus Sweden.  A dry yeast culture is added and the mix is fermented for over 50 hours in 600,000 liter tanks.  A continuous distillation process is used followed by rectification, a method of removing unwanted by-products.  The spirit passes through a number of column stills, each designed to remove a different set of impurities.  One column extracts unpleasant tasting solvent compounds, another fusel oils, a third methanol, and a fourth concentrates the spirit.  No filtration is needed.  Pure well water further filtered through reverse osmosis is added before bottling at 80 proof.
