Review: Reigncane Vodka

The Reigncane Vodka journey began when Brian and Michael Eckert found a source of water on a island in Alaska’s Alexander Archipelago fed by glacier melt and an average waterfall of 166 days per year.  Their original plan to produce the purest bottled water transformed into producing the purest vodka.  After three years of development Raincane Vodka was launched May 2019.  The name was later changed to Reigncane because of a potential lawsuit.  Reigncane is 6 times craft distilled in California with organic sugar cane sourced from Brazil, proofed with naturally pure Alaskan water, and filtered though organic coconut husk charcoal. Review: Upstate Vodka

Upstate Vodka was just released.  This is not the same 90 proof version of Upstate Vodka previously released.  Upstate is farm to bottle craft distilled at Sauvage Distillery in Charlotteville New York, from 100% New York State grown apples, by Head Distiller Ken Wortz.  70-80 apples are needed to produce 1 bottle of Upstate Vodka.  Once the juice is extracted from the apples it is fermented with Kosher Champagne yeast and twice distilled in 16 and 18 plate two-column stills.  Only one state produces more apples than the state of New York, and with over 700 orchards in New York it should come as no surprise Upstate Vodka is made from apples instead of grain.  Upstate Vodka is currently available at select New York and Connecticut liquor stores and it is available to purchase online and ship to 30 states from Sauvage.  Each bottle is numbered and dated.  My bottle is from batch 1, bottle number 7768. Review: JJ Pfister Vodka

JJ Pfister Vodka is crafted by Master Distiller Brian Keck at JJ Pfister Distilling Company in Sacramento California.  The distillery is named for the family patriarch JJ Pfister who emigrated to the US from Switzerland at the age of 25.  He settled in San Francisco, and in 1876 he launched his first business, a one man knitting company.  By 1889 the business was successful enough to build his first factory in San Francisco.  The factory was destroyed in the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, and was rebuilt in Berkeley California.  JJ Distilling Company is a family owned business run by Kevin Keck the Great Grandson of JJ Pfister and the father of master distiller Brain Keck.  Their first crafted spirit was a vodka distilled from potatoes they released in 2017.  They currently craft about a dozen spirits including vodka, gin, whiskey, rum, eau de vie, brandy, and Drakus Honey Spirit.  In 2020 they released their current JJ Pfister Vodka, distilled from organic rye locally farmed in the Sacramento Valley using sustainable practices.  This vodka was originally produced as a base for JJ Pfister Gin and because it tasted so good they released it as a vodka.  All of their spirits are crafted on custom stills built in Italy. Review: Dented Brick Craft Vodka

Dented Brick Craft Vodka is made from 100% locally grown corn and artesian well water that flows clean and pure from the Wasatch Mountains.  The vodka and distillery are named for the well driller who was killed in a gunfight that left impressions in the bricks of his house.  Some of those bricks were used to build the Dented Brick Distillery in South Salt Lake City.  Marc Christensen opened the distillery March 2016 with the launch of his first spirit, Antelope Island Rum.  Today they craft over a dozen spirits including vodka, gin, rum, and whiskey.  Dented Brick Craft Vodka is distilled on a custom Vendome Copper & Brass Works still, then filtered, and bottled onsite. Review: Vido Vodka

Vido Vodka was launched June 2020.  It is crafted in Benton City Washington from wine grapes, grown on the 2200 acre Goose Ridge Estate Vineyard and Winery.  The vodka was named to honor the family patriarch Arvid Vido Monson who ended each day with a vodka cocktail and a dream to craft his own vodka.  Once pressed the grapes are ferment until the wine is considered dry, about 12-15% alcohol.  It is small batch distilled on a dual column 24 plate still.  Before the final filtration the vodka rests for five days.  It is then blended with pure water before being freeze filtered 50 times and then hand bottled and labeled.
