Deep Eddy Cranberry vodka was introduced in February 2014. It is made in Austin Texas with sweet corn, pure cane sugar, and spring water from deep aquifers in Texas Hill Country. It is column distilled ten times in a 20 foot column still before slowly filtered six times over charcoal. Juice from cranberry’s harvested from family owned farms in Massachusetts and pure cane sugar are then added.The aroma is cherry cough syrup. It pours to a cranberry juice red color. The flavor is very tart cranberry with some cough drop notes before fading with mild heat, a hint of lime and a dry tart conclusion. Cranberry like chocolate and vanilla require sugar to resemble the taste most are familiar with. Cranberry juice is typically mixed with 1 teaspoon of sugar for each ounce of cranberry. Deep Eddy Cranberry vodka has the natural taste of cranberry with a small amount of pure cane sugar added to soften the tart cranberry. Served on the rocks this may be a little too tart or medicinal, but mixed as part of a cocktail it won’t compete with your sugar sweetened ingredients.
