Black Box Premium Tequila is one of three premium bagged and boxed spirits produced by Constellation Brands. Vodka and Whiskey are the other two. Constellation has been selling boxed alcohol since 2003 when they acquired Black Box Premium Wine. Black Box now has twelve unique award winning varietals. With a suggested retail price of $24.99 for 1.75 liters of 100% blue agave tequila, Constellation hopes to prove they can do for spirits what they have already accomplished with wine. Black Box is produced at La Cofradia Distillery, and very little additional information about this tequila is available. La Cofradia creates over a dozen brands of tequila including Casa Noble, Mi Campo, Grand Mayan, and Luna Sueno. First of all lets discuss the box. It’s easy to set up, and nice having a 35 degree tequila available with a push of the tapper button in your refrigerator. The aroma is earthy agave, and citrus. Additional time in the glass brings out herbal, and vanilla custard notes. The sweet agave entry has the sweetness of cane sugar. Vanilla arrives and is joined by citrus building to a citrus, vanilla cream, and agave peak. It fades with vanilla and caramel. The finish is warm, oily, and lightly peppered. with an alcohol sting, orange peel, and herbal agave taste. Black Box Silver Tequila is a sweet and tasty tequila that will mix well in cocktails. Given a choice I would select Black Box Tequila 10 times out of 10 over any mixto tequila brand on the market. Priced at $24.99, I picked mine up for under $20, for a 1.75 liter box, Black Box Silver Tequila is a steal.
