Review: Truly Hard Seltzer Berry Mix Pack

by Jeff Ellingson

Truly Hard Seltzer Berry Mix Pack is sold in a four flavor variety, twelve can pack.  Those flavors include Wild Berry, Raspberry Lime, Blueberry & Acai, and Black Cherry.  Truly along with White Claw continue to dominate the hard seltzer market.  At one time they owned a combined 85% market share.  While competition has grown and intensified it’s safe to say Truly and White Claw continue to dominate the Hard Seltzer market.  If there is a prize to be awarded for most flavor varieties, Truly wins hands down, they currently offer 13.  Truly also has not been afraid to change their flavors, formulas, or name, they were originally branded as Truly Spiked and Sparkling.  While some may subscribe to the, “if it’s not broke, don’t fix it” strategy, Truly has decided to break it on their own, and build a better mouse trap.

Truly Wild Berry Hard Seltzer:  The aroma leads with strawberry.  Raspberry follows.  The juicy strawberry entry builds to a tart raspberry peak.  It fades with blackberry and cream flavor.  The finish has bittersweet berry, vanilla buttercream, grapefruit peel, and a hint of latex taste.

Grade: B+

Truly Raspberry Lime Hard Seltzer:  The aroma has floral notes of fresh smashed raspberry and whole sliced lime.  The sweet juicy raspberry entry is tempered by tart lime flesh building to a well balanced raspberry lime rickey peak.  It fades with raspberry and lime sherbet flavor, and finishes with raspberry buttercream and key lime pie taste.

Grade: A-

Truly Blueberry & Acai Hard Seltzer:  The aroma is blueberry preserve.  Additional time in the glass brings out Fanny May Milk Chocolate Raspberry Buttercream notes.  The juicy blueberry pie entry is joined by blackberry and chocolate building to a blueberry jam and Cadbury Chocolate spread peak.  It fades with tart berry flavor and finishes with milk chocolate dipped blueberry taste.

Grade: A

Truly Cherry Hard Seltzer:  The aroma is juicy cherry and almond.  The sweet cherry Jell-O entry builds to a cherry almond peak.  It fades with tart red cherry flavor.  The finish is semi dry with bittersweet cherry, whipped cream, and grapefruit peel taste.
