Review: Farm Horse Vodka
Farm Horse Vodka is crafted off the grid at Dutch and Dewey Distillery using solar and hydro-power in the mountains of Northern California. Farm Horse is made from non GMO cane sugar and captured rain water. It is small batch quadruple distilled in a fractional still designed and built by Distiller and Proprietor Jeff St John. No carbon filtering is needed before bottling with a label picturing Jeff’s grandfather years ago at his farm in Western Pennsylvania. Dutch and Dewey also crafts a gin, coffee liqueur, and lemoncello. A brandy and whiskey are currently aging. The aroma is vanilla, blueberry, and pear. Additional time in the glass brings out cocoa and strawberry. The sweet berry, vanilla, and cream entry is joined by Swiss Chocolate building to a bright grape, and blueberry peak. It fades with raspberry and pear. The finish brings chocolate dipped strawberry taste leaving semi-dry with a warm peppery sting. While this may sound like the review of a flavored vodka Farm Horse is a straight vodka through and through. The flavors come naturally from the cane sugar, yeast, and custom built still. Cowboy up, Farm Horse will take you for a tasty ride.
