Review: Quirk Tropical Breeze Mix Pack
Boulevard Brewing Company released the Quirk Tropical Breeze Mix Pack March 2022. This is their third hard seltzer 4 flavor 12 can variety pack. Boulevard entered the hard seltzer market with the release of Quirk Spiked & Sparkling May 2020. At some point they dropped the Spiked & Sparkling in favor of Hard Seltzer. Quirk Hard Seltzer is made at Boulevard Brewing Company in Kansas City Missouri from a traditional sugar alcohol base with natural flavors and 1% fruit juice. Quirk Passionfruit Orange has 2% real fruit juice.
Quirk Key Lime Hard Seltzer: Made with key lime juice. The aroma leads with key lime. Additional time brings out coconut flake and carbon seltzer. The sweet lime juice entry builds to a tart lime and creamy coconut peak. It fades with foamy seltzer and finishes with butter cream and sour lime juice.
Grade: B+
Quirk Mango Punch Hard Seltzer: Made with mango juice. The aroma leads with ripe mango. Pineapple, orange and cherry follow. The sweet cherry entry is joined by juicy mango and orange. It fades with foamy seltzer, citrus and pineapple and finishes with tangy pineapple, mango, tart cherry, sour orange and lime.
Grade: A-
Quirk Passionfruit Orange Hard Seltzer: Made with 2% real passion fruit juice and orange juice. The aroma leads with passionfruit with notes of grapefruit and kiwi. Orange juice follows. The taste follows the same path with the passionfruit entry having notes of grapefruit and kiwi sweetened at the midpoint by orange. It fades with foamy seltzer, grapefruit, tangy pineapple, orange and peach flavor. How you rate this flavor may have more to do with your feelings towards the taste of passionfruit than the actual quality of the drink. Boulevard has done an amazing job producing real passionfruit flavor using only 1% passionfruit juice.
Grade: A-
Quirk Pineapple Chili Hard Seltzer: Made with pineapple juice. The aroma leads with a healthy dose of jalapeno pepper. Sliced pineapple follows. The sweet pineapple entry balances the spicy jalapeno pepper building to a juicy pineapple peak. It fades with foamy seltzer, jalapeno heat, and tangy pineapple and finishes with medium warmth, juicy pineapple, and natural jalapeno pepper taste.
Grade: A
The Bottom Line: Boulevard Brewery has crafted a very tasty batch of hard seltzers. These are not the standard cookie cutter flavors we find in most hard seltzer mix packs. So they will not appeal to everyone, but the flavors are very natural and the real fruit juice does not come off as over sweet.
