Review: EG Origin Vodka
EG, short for Enlightened Grain, Vodka was created by Matt Anderson. His first vodka was launched in 2010. It was infused with rosemary and lavender. EG currently produces EG Origin, EG Windsor a vodka infused with Earl Grey and Sage, and EG Inspiration, a vodka infused with Rosemary and Lavender. EG Origin is made from organic wheat locally sourced and sustainably grown. It is crafted in small batches, single distilled using column and Alembic pot stills that allow for precise temperature, and pressure. Once distilled the spirit is gravity fed through coconut husk. EG is produced, distilled, and bottled by New Deal Distillery in Portland Oregon. The aroma leads with soft pretzel. Additional time brings out cream cheese notes. The sweet citrus and warm wheat cereal entry builds to a marshmallow, wheat bread, and lemon peak. It fades with tangy lemon and caramel and finishes with vanilla, mineral, lemon peel, anise, and white pepper.
