Review: Black Hole Vodka
Black Hole Vodka is one of three spirits made by Joshua Tree Distilling Company. The others include Giant Rock Gin, and Lost Horse Whiskey. Paul Chakalian founded the distillery in 2020. Joshua Tree Distilling Company is a member of 1% For The Planet, donating 1% of total revenue to approved environmental non-profits. Black Hole Vodka is made from 100% organic cane sugar. They partnered with an organic distillery in Columbia where the organic base spirit is made. When it arrives at Joshua Tree they apply proprietary filtration methods and re-distillation before proofing down to 80 proof with reverse osmosis water and hand bottling. The aroma leads with sugar cookie and ethanol. Additional time brings out toasted coconut. The cane sugar and citrus entry builds to a sugar cookie peak. It fades with coconut and vanilla and finishes with whole milk, burnt sugar, citrus peel, baby aspirin, anise, alcohol, and pepper. Black Hole Vodka is a tasty vodka that finishes a little rough.
