Review: Hera The Dog Vodka
Hera The Dog Vodka was launched in Los Angeles December 2018 by Co-Founders Julia Pennington and Allison Lange. With over 20 years of experience running non-profit animal rescues they looked at ways to raise more money for their passion to help animals. Julia’s Nephew and his wife operate Pennington Distillery in Nashville Tennessee so it seemed like a logical direction to take. Hera The Dog is crafted from 100% Non GMO organic wheat that is distilled 7 times in small batches at their family distillery and drip filtered through walnut husks. They started with a commitment to donate $1 from the sale of each bottle with a goal of having 50% of the proceeds of each sale going to animal rescues. The aroma leads with whole wheat bread. Additional time brings out Peach Jell-O and pepper. The sweet creamy wheat entry is joined by vanilla building to a peach peak. It fades with cream of wheat cereal and lemon drop and finishes with a warm peppery sting, mineral, whole milk, lemon peel, anise, and black pepper.
