Review: Distillery of Modern Art Peach Vodka
The Distillery of Modern Art combines a modern art gallery supporting local artists with a working distillery, cocktail lounge, and 2800 square foot event center. This is all housed in a former 15,000 square foot warehouse in Chamblee Georgia. DoMA was founded by Seth Watson who has a background including 20 years in design and event production. Matt Greif is the Lead Distiller. He currently crafts several spirits including Atlanta Vodka, Nouveau Gin, Corn Whiskey, Rye, Bourbon, Amaro Peach, and todays focus DoMA Peach Vodka. The vodka is made from a French wheat based GNS that is redistilled on their custom 500 gallon pot still custom build by Vendome Copper and Brass in Louisville Kentucky. They blend peach concentrate, natural flavors and sweeten and proof to 40% abv before bottling in a euro sized 700ML bottle. The aroma leads with fresh sliced peach. Additional time brings out caramel pecan pastry notes. The sweetened peach concentrate entry builds to a juicy peach and soft caramel peak. It fades with peach puree and finishes a bit peppery with peach cobbler and a sprinkle of white pepper. On entry DoMA Peach does a nice job balancing real peach flavor with notes of simple syrup without tasting like peach bubblegum. Proofed to an adult 40% abv. allows the French wheat vodka base to be part of the flavor journey.
