Jim Beam Red Stag Hardcore Cider was introduced October 2013. It is one of three flavors in their Red Stag line of flavored bourbons, and one of six flavored bourbons currently made by Jim Beam in Frankfort Kentucky. It is made with their 4 year old Kentucky Straight Bourbon infused with natural apple cider and other natural flavors and bottled at 80 proof.The aroma is cinnamon apple and bourbon with a hint of vanilla. In my mouth the feel is slightly syrupy. The sweet apple entry is joined by cinnamon and then bourbon flavor, building to an apple influenced bourbon peak with a hint of vanilla. It fades with a mild mouth warming and an apple cider flavored bourbon finish. Red Stag Hardcore Cider is a bourbon that will score high with those that are looking for a taste experience that combines the taste of apple cider, cinnamon and bourbon. There may not be enough bourbon flavor to satisfy a true bourbon fan. For those I recommend straight bourbon with a splash of apple cider.
