Review: Patron Citronge Lime Liqueur
Patron Citronge Lime Liqueur was launched September 2014. This is the long awaited followup to their Cironge Orange Liqueur that was first introduced in 1992. It is made with the highest quality Persian limes from the Mexican states of Veracruz, Michoacán, and Colima, neutral grain spirits, and pure cane sugar. No artificial flavors are added. The 70 proof PC Lime is packaged in the same cork finished, extended neck bottle, as their Orange Citronge. The aroma is fresh squeezed limes with some notes of agave. In my mouth the feel is syrupy. The flavor is sweet fresh squeezed lime and sugar building to a tart lime peak. There is a mild mouth warming and a smooth long Persian lime finish. There is a little alcohol flavor that I would describe as agave tasting, although I don’t believe tequila has been added. At 70 proof this has the feel of something much lighter, and while sweet, this is one of the few liqueurs I find not too sweet to sip on the rocks. The options for mixing Citronge Lime are limited only by your imagination.
