Review: Maestro Dobel Silver Tequila

Maestro Dobel Silver tequila was introduced in 2013.  It is the follow up to their very successful Diamond tequila that is aged in Hungarian white oak barrels and is a blend of 1 year old reposado, 2 year old anejo, and 3 year old extra anejo.  It is named after its founder Juan Domingo Beckman Legoretta, an eleventh generation member of the Jose Cuervo family.  It is crafted with 100% blue agave sourced from a single estate.  Every step of the production process is done by hand including labeling and signing each bottle after hand filling.  If the wooden cork top and embossed lettering on their glass bottle isn’t enough, this bottle came packed in a black guitar case.The aroma is roasted earthy agave with some citrus notes.  In my mouth the feel is soft and slightly oily.  The soft buttery agave entry has some herbal and artichoke flavor.  It is joined by vanilla and builds to a citrus peak.  It fades with a sprinkle of pepper with a silky smooth finish that leaves a vanilla taste with a hint of olive.  This is a tequila that tastes just as good as its packaging looks.
