Review: Partida Blanco Tequila

by Jeff Ellingson

Partida Blanco Tequila - CopyPartida Blanco tequila was introduced in 2005.  It is made with 7-10 year old 100% blue agave grown on the Partida Family Estate.  The pinas are slow roasted for 20 hours in stainless steel ovens and after the agave juice is extracted it ferments for 36-40 hours before it is double distilled. The aroma is citrus, mint, vanilla, and roasted agave.  The vanilla flavored entry has an oily feel and is joined by roasted agave and lime building to a minty citrus peak.  It fades with a sprinkle of pepper before a smooth mineral finish that is a little dry and salty.  This is a good example of a Lowlands tequila with it’s earthy agave flavor.  Partida Blanco is certainly smooth enough, and tasty enough to drink on the rocks, or mix in a cocktail.
