Review: Krol Vodka

by Jeff Ellingson

Krol Vodka Image - CopyKrol Vodka is made in Poland with late harvest Polish rye and pure mountain spring water.  Krol is Polish for king and they claim their vodka was a favorite among the Polish Aristocracy since the early 1820’s.  Krol is distilled 4 times according to the bottle and 5 times on their web page and filtered 6 times. The aroma is fresh baked grains with a spicy rye backing.  The sweet grain entry builds to a fresh rye bread peak.  It fades with a mild sting with vanilla and butterscotch taste before finishing with mineral and a touch of charcoal.  Krol is a well crafted vodka the will appeal to those looking for natural grain flavor in their vodka.  While smooth the mineral/charcoal finish prevents me for scoring Krol even higher.
