Review: Brady’s Irish Cream Liqueur

by Jeff Ellingson

Bradys Irish CreamBrady’s Irish cream is part Castle Brands which was founded in 1998 by Mark Andrews.  At its inception they had 2 employees and 1 brand, Knappoque Castle Whiskey.  Since then they have invested $60 million developing and acquiring a portfolio of a dozen brands including Jefferson Bourbon, Boru Vodka, Gosling Rum, and Brady’s Irish Cream.Today we are reviewing Brady’s Irish Cream Liqueur.  Produced in Ballesbough Ireland and made in small batches to ensure optimum quality and consistency Brady’s uses triple distilled single malt Irish Whiskey to create it’s distinctive taste.  The cream used goes from farm to bottle in 2 days.  Natural flavors of dark chocolate, vanilla, coffee, and butterscotch are added.

The aroma in the bottle varies with every breath I take.  I pick up mocha, vanilla, dark chocolate and raisons.  Poured to a medium thickness in my glass Brady’s aroma becomes more mocha and whiskey.  On my tongue, Brady’s floats like a soft cloud.  The sweet dark chocolate is joined by a creamy vanilla flavor before transitioning to a single malt whiskey.  I pick up a little mocha as the flavor fades.  It may seem unusual describing an Irish cream as complex but there are many layers of flavor here and I enjoy every one of them.
