Review: Punk N Harvest Ale
Punk N Harvest Ale is one of 20 beers brewed throughout the year in Salt Lake City using 100% renewable power at the Uinta Brewery. The brewery is named after an east west mountain range in Northeastern Utah. Uinta started brewing beer in a small renovated mechanics garage in 1993 and in 2001 they built a brand new 26,000 square foot brewery. Review: Alaskan Pumpkin Ale
Alaskan Pumpkin Ale was recently introduced and it is one of four seasonal beers brewed in Juneau Alaska by the Alaskan Brewing Company. They also brew 7 year round beers. Pumpkin Ale replaces a Pumpkin Porter they brewed the last two years. Alaskan Pumpkin is a brown ale made with 5 1/2 pounds of organic pumpkin per barrel, brown sugar, clove, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Blue Moon Harvest Pumpkin Ale was the first nationally distributed pumpkin ale when it was introduced in 1995. It was originally called Blue Moon Pumpkin Ale and later Harvest Moon. Harvest Pumpkin is crafted with cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, allspice, pumpkin and a touch of wheat. It is one of 4 seasonal ales they brew in Golden Colorado. Review: New Belgium Pumpkick Ale
New Belgium Pumpkick Ale was introduced in 2013. New Belgium is the fourth largest craft brewery in the US. All of their beer is currently brewed in Ft. Collins but they will be opening a second brewery in Asheville North Carolina in early 2016. Husband and wife team Jeff Lebesch and Kim Jordan started selling beer first brewed in their basement in 1991. Their first two beers Abbey and Fat Tire are still available today. New Belgium is a 100% Employee owned company with employees receiving stock and a new cruiser bike after one year of employment. OFallon Pumpkin Beer is one of five seasonal beers brewed in Maryland Heights Missouri at their brand new 40,000 square foot brewery. They also craft brew 6 year round, and 4 Brewers Stash beers. O’Fallon Pumpkin is brewed with 120 pounds of real pumpkin, Pale, White Wheat, and Caramel 90L grain, and cluster hops. They season the finished beer with cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Shock Top Pumpkin Wheat beer was introduced August 2011, and it is one of three seasonal beers they create. Their other seasonal beers are Lemon Shandy, and Shockolate Wheat. Shock Top Pumpkin starts with their Belgian wheat ale brewed with wheat, honey, coriander, orange, lemon, and lime peel and Cascade and Willamette hops. Shock Top Spiced Banana Wheat beer was introduced on draft for limited release including Special Events and Beer Festivals in August 2014. It is now one of two limited edition beers they offer in 12 ounce bottles. Their other flavor is Twisted Pretzel Wheat. They join their 3 seasonal and 3 year round wheat beers. The Belgian style wheat ale is brewed with wheat, honey, orange, lemon, and lime peels, coriander, banana and spice. The beer is left unfiltered before bottling at 5.5% alcohol. Read more
Review: Redds Wicked Black Cherry Ale
Redds Wicked Black Cherry Ale was recently released, joining the previously reviewed Wicked Mango and Wicked Apple Ale. Redds, a Miller-Coors brand, also brews a lower alcohol Apple, Strawberry, and Green Apple ale. Wicked Black Cherry is brewed in Albany Georgia with natural flavors then added before canning at 8% alcohol. Redd’s currently sells this product in single 16 and 24 ounce cans and in 12 packs of 10 ounce cans and 4 packs of 16 ounce cans. Read more
Review: Schell Shocked Grapefruit Radler Beer
Schell Shocked Grapefruit Radler Beer was introduced in 2013. It is one of fifteen beers they currently produce and one of three beers in their Extended Seasonal Series. It is crafted at the August Shell Brewery in New Ulm Minnesota. The first bricks to build this brewery were laid by August Schell in 1860 and it continues to be run as a family brewery. Radler is a German term that translates to cyclist in English, and the history of Radler or Shandy beers dates back to the 50/50 mix of lemonade and beer served to cyclists in Germany dating back to the 1920’s.
