Review: Buffalo Trace Bourbon Cream

Buffalo Trace bourbon CREAMBuffalo Trace Bourbon Cream is made in small batches using Buffalo Trace Bourbon and a cream liqueur.  Originally only available at their distillery in Franklin County Kentucky, it is now bottled in Rochester New York.  This has allowed them to increase the distribution of this product.  Packaged in a brown glass, bell shaped bottle to protect the cream within, it features their trademark torn label with a buffalo, and weighs in at 15% alcohol.  Irish cream liqueurs are typically bottled at 17%.  However, unlike Irish creams where most contain grain spirit and Irish whiskey, Buffalo Trace only uses bourbon. Review: Ricacha Horchata

Ricacha Horchata Cream LiqueurRicacha Horchata is made with 12.5% alcohol by Crosby Lake Spirits in Princeton Minnesota using rum from Barbados, cream, and natural cinnamon flavors.  At a time when Dean’s Milk which only has a 2-3 week shelf life is introducing its Flavor Tight bottle to protect its milk from light, Ricacha goes against the grain.  Standing out like a day light walking vampire against a sea of light protected cream liqueurs on the liquor store shelf, Ricacha flaunts its body in a clear see through bottle.  The packaging is both modern and attractive with the font painted on the bottle and a cork included cap.  Priced $4 less than Rum Chata and offering a $10 rebate at my local liquor store it was begging me to try it.  I did.  Claiming half the fat and less calories than the leading brand I didn’t know what to expect. Review: Holly Nog

 

Holly Nog Pic - CopyIntroduced in 2013, Holly Nog is made in Pewaukee Wisconsin by Midwest Custom Bottling.  Midwest is the group behind Rum Chata.  Packaged in a clear glass bottle at 14% alcohol and made with Wisconsin dairy cream, wine, sugar, and holiday spices, it is available from September until the supply is gone, usually around New Years. Baileys with a hint of Chocolate MintBaileys with a hint of Mint Chocolate was introduced in the US as a limited edition St Patrick’s day offering in 2006, and it is still available nearly eight years later.  That may be changing soon.  The Baileys US web site no longer features hint of mint chocolate and their UK site states it is no longer available in the UK.   Read more »

The Irishman Superior Irish CreamIntroduced in 2005 The Irishman Superior Irish Cream is one of the few Irish creams made using 100% Irish Whiskey as their only spirit.  In 1999 the Walsh family bottled the first Hot Irishman an Irish Coffee drink that only required adding hot water and whipped cream to create the perfect Irish Coffee.  Imported by The Other Wine and Spirit company in Miami Florida The Irishman Irish cream was the second of many products including a line of Irish Whiskeys now created by Hot Irishman LTD.
