Review: SomruS Coffee Cream Liqueur
SomruS Coffee Cream Liqueur was introduced September 2020 by SomPriya Fine Spirits. It joins SomruS Chai and SomruS Mango in their Indian inspired cream liqueur lineup. SomruS translates to Nectar of Gods in ancient Sanskrit. SomruS Coffee Cream Liqueur is itself inspired by South India’s “Kaapi”. Kaapi, also known as South Indian Filter Coffee is made by mixing frothed and boiled milk with finely ground coffee powder in a traditional Indian filter. SomruS Coffee Cream Liqueur is made from coffee and chicory with real Wisconsin dairy cream and five time distilled Caribbean rum. Read more
Review: Connellys Caramel Country Cream
Connellys Caramel Country Cream is one of five varieties of Connellys Country Cream liqueur sold at Aldi’s stores throughout the US. Connellys has replaced O’Donnells as Aldi’s store brand. In Ireland there are four creameries that produce almost all of the worlds Irish Cream and Irish Country Cream. They are Baileys, Terra, First Ireland Spirits, and R.A. Merry & Co. O’Donnell’s was made by R.A. Merry. The previously reviewed Connellys Pumpkin Spice & Connellys Strawberry are produced by First Ireland Spirits. Here is where it gets confusing Connellys Caramel is made by R.A. Merry. Connellys Caramel is made with grape wine, grain neutral spirits, cream, and natural flavors. Read more
Review: Connellys Pumpkin Spice Country Cream
Connellys Pumpkin Spice Country Cream is a seasonal country cream sold at the over 2000 Aldi Stores located in 36 states throughout the US. It is produced for them by First Ireland Spirits in Co. Laois Ireland. Pumpkin Spice is one of at least five flavor varieties they currently offer on a year round or seasonal basis. Country Cream is made with a grape wine and neutral spirit alcohol base. Irish Cream is crafted with Irish Whiskey and a neutral spirit base. Review: Connellys Strawberry Country Cream
Connellys Strawberry Country Cream is sold at Aldi Stores throughout the US. It has replaced O’Donnells as their store brand of Irish Country Cream liqueur. Country Cream is basically Irish Cream made with grape wine instead of Irish whiskey. This is more than just a change of name as O’Donnells was made by R.A. Merry Co. Connellys is produced by First Ireland Spirits Co. First Ireland produces several brands of Irish Cream and Country Cream including Feeneys Irish Cream and O’Mara’s Country Cream. While Connellys does not have a web address or a Facebook account it is imported by Mack & Schuhle and on their webpage it shows an image of eight Connellys Country Cream flavors including Strawberry, Blueberry, Cappuccino, Caramel, Chocolate Orange, Pumpkin Spice, Salted Caramel, and Mint Chocolate. While I have only seen Connellys Original, Strawberry, Pumpkin Spice, and Caramel Country Cream at Aldi stores I’m told Blueberry made a brief appearance. Maybe the others will arrive next year. Review: Fennellys Mint Chocolate Cream Liqueur
Fennellys Mint Chocolate Cream Liqueur is one of seven varieties of Irish Cream this Total Wine & More store brand currently produces. The others include Fennellys Irish Cream, Fennellys Almond Cream, Fennellys Strawberry & Cream, Fennellys Cappucine, Fennellys Peppermint, and Fennellys Salted Caramel. Mint was one of the first flavors Irish Cream liqueurs were made with, but a few of these mint flavored brands are no longer produced including Baileys with a Hint of Mint and Saint Brendans Peppermint Bark. It is curious the only two active mint flavored Irish Creams are Fennellys Mint Chocolate and Fennellys Peppermint. Read more
Review: Fennellys Almond Cream Liqueur
Fennellys Almond Cream Liqueur was recently added to the Fennellys Family of Irish Cream Liqueurs. Adoption might be a better term as Fennellys Almond Cream Liqueur does not share the bloodline needed to be considered an Irish Cream Liqueur as it is not made with Irish cream or Irish Whiskey. One look at the bottle tells you they are targeting Baileys Almande in more than just flavor content, as they both share cream colored bottles with an almond blossom design. Unlike Baileys Almande which is made in the US, Fennellys Almond Cream is produced in Ireland. Fennellys hits the scale at the traditional Irish cream weight of 34 proof. Baileys Almande is a trim 26 proof. Read more
Review: Flannerys White Chocolate Liqueur
Flannerys White Chocolate Liqueur is made in Ireland with cream, neutral spirits, malt whiskey, and natural flavors by R.A. Merry & Co. Merry & Co. also produces Flannerys original Irish Cream. If you can think of an Irish name, first or last, its a good bet there is an Irish Cream liqueur named for them. It is also quite likely Merry & Co. makes it, as they produce more brands of Irish cream than anyone else. Read more
Review: Fennellys Strawberry & Cream
Fennellys Strawberry & Cream is one of seven varieties of Irish Cream made by Robert A Merry & Co. under the Fennellys brand. Only Baileys with nine, has a larger flavor lineup. Fennellys translate to Fair Valor in Gaelic. Fennellys is one of several brands of Irish cream liqueur sold at Total Wine & More stores. It is made from natural Irish cream, aged Irish Whiskey, Irish Spirits, natural flavor, and natural color. Read more
Review: Sheelin Peanut Butter Country Cream
Sheelin Peanut Butter Country Cream was recently released. It is made from grape wine, neutral spirits, natural flavors and caramel color in Co. Tipperary Ireland by R.A Merry & Co. Missing from the ingredient list is cream although the bottles label does list milk as an ingredient further down the bottles label. Sheelin is one of several Irish creams and country cream brands sold at Total Wine & More stores. R.A. Merry also makes Original Sheelin and Sheelin White Chocolate. Country Cream is a designation given cream liqueurs produced in Ireland with wine instead of Irish Whiskey. With over 20 Peanut Butter Whiskies already on the market today it was only a matter of time before someone produced a peanut butter flavored Irish cream liqueur. Read more
