Review: Mollys Pumpkin Spice Irish Cream

Mollys Pumpkin Spice Irish Cream is one of three varieties of Irish cream Terra produces under the Molly’s label.  We reviewed Mollys Pumpkin Spice back in 2013 but Terra has since tweaked the recipe.  With Baileys opting for an Apple flavored Irish cream instead of Pumpkin Spice this year, Mollys Pumpkin Spice is looking to fill the gap.  Terra LTD is owned by the McKevitt family and it is the largest family owned cream liqueur producer in Ireland.  Terra produces several brands of Irish Cream but they may have saved the best for themselves as Molly’s is their own produced flagship Irish Cream Brand. Review: Baileys Apple Pie

Baileys Apple Pie was just released.  Just as we were expecting a press release announcing the annual late September release of Baileys Pumpkin Spice, Diageo surprised us with the apple pie and vanilla ice cream inspired Baileys Apple Pie.  This makes sense as Crown Royal Regal Apple, another Diageo owned product, is the second best selling flavored whiskey, behind only Fireball in sales.  Apple Pie is one of 3 Limited Edition releases Baileys has in their stable of 10 Irish cream liqueurs they sell in the US.  That’s more flavor varieties than they sell in any market they serve, including the UK.  Baileys Apple Pie starts with the same Irish dairy cream, triple distilled Irish whiskey and spirits recipe they use to create Original Baileys Irish Cream.  Natural flavors are blended before bottling at 34 proof. Review: Snowball Coconut Cream Liqueur

Snowball Coconut Cream Liqueur is one of three Snowball brand cream liqueurs recently released.  The other two flavors are Peach and Mango.  The inspiration for Snowball Cream Liqueur dates back to 1923 in a small town in Northern Europe where a family started a small ice cream shop following their grandmothers homemade recipes.  This family passion and dedication for making the finest premium quality ice cream has transcended through three generations and led to the creation of Snowball Cream Liqueur.  Snowball is made by Creamy Creation in New Jersey and bottled at Mango Bottling in Cocoa Florida.  Snowball Coconut Cream Liqueur is made with ultra premium vodka, cream, and natural flavors.  It is bottled at 33 proof.  By comparison Bailey’s Irish Cream weighs in at 34 proof. Review: Declans Irish Cream Wine Cocktail

Declans Irish Cream Wine Cocktail is made with grape wine, cream, natural flavors, and caramel color.  It is bottled by Brookstone Distilling Company in Lewiston Maine.  To use the Irish Cream name the cream must come from Ireland.  True Irish Cream is also made with Irish Whiskey.  In Ireland, Irish Country Cream is the designation given Irish Creams made with wine.  It is not quite clear as to what part, if any of Declans Irish Cream Wine Cocktail is actually sourced from Ireland. Review: Disaronno Velvet Cream Liqueur

Disaronna Velvet Cream Liqueur was just released.  This is the second line extension for Disaronno.  The first, Disaronno Riserva was launched in 2015.  It was a blend of scotch sourced from the Highland and Speyside Region and Disaronno.  After blending together it was aged in Marsala wine barrels.  Disaronno was first commercially bottled in 1900 but it is based on a recipe said to date back to 1525.  Until 2001 it was named Amaretto di Saronno.  While the exact recipe is a secret, it is made from a pure alcohol base made from sugar beet or sugar cane.  Vanilla and bitter almond are the only two named ingredients.  Bitter almonds are actually apricot pits.  The pits are crushed to extract the oil.  In crafting Disaronna Velvet, Disaronna Originale is blended with real dairy cream before bottling at 34 proof.  That is the same alcohol content as Bailey’s Irish Cream. Review: Whisper Creek Peanut Butter Chocolate Cream Liqueur

Whisper Creek Peanut Butter Chocolate Cream Liqueur is produced at Pennington Distilling CO. in Nashville Tennessee.  It is made from premium aged charcoal mellowed Tennessee Whiskey made at Speakeasy Spirits.  Fresh dairy cream and natural flavors are blended before filling their old-time milk jug with the 40 proof spirit.  Whisper Creek is made from a 100% whiskey base.  Most Irish Cream liqueurs supplement their Irish Whiskey base with neutral grain spirits.  Jenny and Jeff Pennington launched their Original Whisper Creek Tennessee Sipping Cream in 2012 and have since added Whisper Creek Mocha Cream, and Whisper Creek Pumpkin Spice Cream. Review: Quinns Irish Cream

Quinns Irish Cream was recently released.  It appears to be Target’s new house brand.  Also new to their shelves are several other Target only spirits including a vodka.  No product information is available on the bottles label or the Target website.  The fact that they have labeled this an Irish Cream Liqueur tells me this is made from Irish Whiskey, fresh dairy cream, and natural flavors.  Most Irish Cream liqueurs also include neutral spirits.  Quinns is imported by Universal Brands, Princeton Minnesota.  Princeton Minnesota is the import location of over a dozen private label Irish cream liqueurs. Review: RumChata Limon

RumChata Limon will be released nationally in April.  Living in the Midwest in March has finally paid off as a few stores in Illinois and Wisconsin currently have a limited supply on hand.  The original RumChata was launched in 2009, and today it is the second best selling cream liqueur in the US only trailing Baileys Irish Cream in sales.  While Limon is not RumChata’s first line extension, they currently produce Frappa Chata, 2 RTD blends of Rumchata, real dairy cream, and iced coffee, this is their first flavored RumChata.   Throughout the years Baileys has introduced over a dozen flavor variants of their Original blend so it should come as no surprise RumChata has introduced a new flavor of their own.  RumChata Limon blends Caribbean rum with real dairy cream, vanilla, natural and artificial flavors, and lemon.
