Review: The Whistler Blenders Select Irish Cream

The Whistler Trilogy was just released.  It consists of three spirits, The Whistler Double Oaked, The Whistler Irish Honey, and The Whistler Irish Cream.  All are crafted at the Boann Distillery in Co. Meath Ireland.  In 1774 Drogheda hosted 18 distilleries.  By 1822 that number had dropped to 1.  When the Boann distillery opened in 2017 it was the first distillery to open in Drogheda in 50 years.  The Boann Distillery is part of the Na Cuana Group which also owns Adams Cider Company, Boyne Brewhouse, and Robert A Merry & Co.  Today we are reviewing The Whistler Irish Cream.  It is the first Irish cream crafted with single pot still Irish whiskey.  Every raw ingredient sourced is 100% natural, and 100% local.  Every drop of water is drawn from their Boyne Valley well.  Every grain of barley is provided by native farmers.  The Irish cream comes from the Emerald Isle’s famous grass fed dairy cows.  From milling to mashing, maturing to bottling every mouthful of Boann malted pot still whiskey is created within the family distillery. Review: Café Granita Cold Brew Coffee & Cream

Café Granita Cold Brew Coffee & Cream is a blend of coffee, and cream liqueur.  It is produced in Princeton Minnesota and sold at Total Wine and More stores throughout the US.  They also produce Café Granita, a straight coffee liqueur produced in Mexico with lightly roasted coffee beans fermented with sugar.  It is currently available in a 750ml bottle, a four pack of 200ml bottles, or a 50ml sample size.  Although Kahlua is made from a rum base, the ingredient list of Café Granita Cold Brew Coffee & Cream brings back memories of the classic Kahlua and cream cocktail. Review: Trader Joes Cocoa Cream Liqueur

Trader Joes Cocoa Cream Liqueur as the name would suggest is sold at Trader Joes stores.  It should not be confused with Crème de Cacao, a liqueur best known as an ingredient in making a Brandy Alexander or Grasshopper.  Cocoa Cream is made with real dairy cream and premium spirits by Levecke Corporation in Mira Loma California.  Levecke is a private label bottler who also makes Trader Joes Eggnog.  Premium spirits is a nice way of saying grain spirits or vodka.  Cocoa Cream Liqueur is only available through the holiday season or while supply lasts. Review: Dempseys Irish Cream Liqueur

Dempseys Irish Cream Liqueur can be found on the store shelves of your local Kroger Grocery store.  It apparently has replace Delaney’s as Kroger’s private label Irish Cream Liqueur brand.  Like Delaney’s, Dempsey’s is made in Abbeyleix Ireland by First Ireland Spirits.  Very little product information is available about Dempsey’s but it is imported by County Line Distillers, a division of Sazerac. Review: Members Mark Eggnog

Members Mark Eggnog as the name would suggest can be found at Sam’s Club’s.  It is sold in a 1.75 liter plastic bottle, and priced at $9.98.  At one time Sam’s Club’s also sold a private label Irish Cream liqueur under the O’Dowd’s label.  O’Dowd’s Irish Cream and O’Dowd’s Pumpkin Irish Cream, which they also sold, were two of our highest scoring Irish Cream liqueurs.  I was a little sad when Sam’s pull the plug on the brand.  Members Mark Eggnog  is made in Kentucky with Caribbean rum, real cream, cane sugar, and a medley of other classic ingredients.  Some adult eggnog’s are made with brandy or bourbon and some have a blend of all three spirits.
