Calico Jack Cake rum is one of nine rum flavors Beam Suntory creates under the Calico Jack label. It was originally named Cake Jack rum. It is made with rum distilled at the Cruzan Rum distillery in St. Croix. Natural and artificial flavor is added in Frankfort Kentucky where it is bottled at 42 proof. Calico Jack rum is named after Jack Rackham who was nicknamed Calico Jack. He is best known as the Caribbean pirate who designed the skull and cross bones flag. Read more
Review: Bacardi Black Razz Rum
Bacardi Black Razz rum was introduced in June 2012 in a temperature activated bottle. The berry on the label turns red when cold. It is one of 15 flavored rums they create in Puerto Rico. It is made with molasses and a single strain of yeast, Le Levadura Bacardi. Bacardi ages their rum in lightly charred American white oak barrels before being filtered through a mix of charcoal made from tropical woods and coconut shells before being infused with natural raspberry and black sapote. Black sapote is native to Mexico and Guatemala. It is a member of the persimmon family and is nick named a chocolate putting fruit. It is green in color and looks similar to a green tomato. Read more

They use a five column distillation process and remove the heads and fusel oils before aging in oak barrels. The rum is then shipped to the Florida Caribbean Distillers in Auburndale Florida where natural mango flavor is added before bottling at 54 proof. Read more

Review: Malibu Peach Sparkler
Malibu Peach Sparkler was introduced February 2014 along with their Rum Sparkler. It is made with Caribbean rum, coconut water, and natural peach and coconut flavor. Carbonation is then infused before bottling at 22 proof. Because of the carbonation this is a bottle that should be finished in one evening, or sealed with a wine stopper. You are not getting that cork back in the bottle, I tried. Read more
