Review: Porters Peanut Butter Whiskey
Porters Peanut Butter Whiskey was just released. It is not made with real peanuts so the spirit is safe to drink for those with peanut allergies. Those of you with children in school know just how real peanut allergies are as some schools even ban peanut butter and jelly sandwiches from students lunches. Peanut Butter is one of five flavored whiskeys created by Ogdens Own Distillery in Ogden Utah. The others include Porters Fire, Porters Peach, Porters Apple, and Porters Huckleberry. Each starts with a Canadian Whiskey base and they weigh in at 66.6 proof. Peanut Butter flavored whiskey has been on a roll with seemingly a new brand arriving every month. This is our 12th peanut butter whiskey review and it wont be our last. Read more
Review: Blue Lacy Peanut Butter Whiskey
Blue Lacy Peanut Butter Whiskey is described as a flavored Texas whiskey. While I have seen bottle images of a number of Blue Lacy flavored whiskeys, until now I have never seen an actual Blue Lacy whiskey for sale. The Blue Lacy is the state dog of Texas and was the inspiration for JEM Beverage Co’s line of flavored whiskeys. JEM Beverage is the parent company of Western Son Distillery in Pilot Point Texas. Very little information is printed on the bottles label except to say it is bottled at the Western Son Distillery in Pilot Point Texas. Western Son is best known for their line of nine vodka’s including eight flavored varieties. This distillery also makes a gin, four canned cocktails, and a Texas Bourbon Whiskey. The whiskey is made from a mash of 68% Texas corn, 22% Canadian Rye, and 10% two row barley. It is distilled in a 600 gallon copper pot still and aged in new American White Oak barrels that have been charred to a level 3. It is unclear if this is the whiskey base for Blue Lacy Peanut Butter Whiskey. Read more
Review: Ugly Dog Peanut Butter Bourbon Whiskey
Ugly Dog Peanut Butter Bourbon Whiskey was released February 2020. It joins a bourbon lineup that includes Ugly Dog Bourbon Whiskey, Ugly Dog Salted Caramel Bourbon Whiskey, and Ugly Dog Michigan Cherry Bourbon Whiskey. Ugly Dog Distillery is located in Chelsea Michigan and was founded by John Dyer and Dewey Winkle and named after John’s German wire haired pointer. Ugly Dog Distillery also produces a rum, gin, vodka, bacon vodka, and raspberry vodka. The vodka is small batch distilled in a copper still they hand hammered and welded themselves. Ugly Dog Peanut Butter Bourbon Whiskey is made from a Kentucky Bourbon base. It is not made with any real peanuts. Because this is described as Kentucky bourbon, I believe the whiskey is sourced, and not distilled in Chelsea Michigan but rather Kentucky. Natural flavors are added before bottling at 70 proof. Review: SQRLL Peanut Butter Whiskey
SQRLL Peanut Butter Whiskey was just released by Beam Suntory. While Beam Suntory is quite proud of Jim Beam Peach, Jim Beam Vanilla, Jim Beam Honey, Jim Beam Apple, Jim Beam Maple, Jim Beam Kentucky Fire Cinnamon, and Jim Beam Red Stag Black Cherry Whiskey, figuring out Beam was responsible for SQRLL took a little detective work. The Pinnacle Vodka shaped bottle SQRLL comes packaged in was the first clue. The bottles label reading produced and bottled by Fielding and Jones, a named tied to Beams Pucker Brand was another. SQRRL weighs in at 70 proof and is made from whiskey, with natural flavors, and caramel color. Read more
Review: Rams Point Peanut Butter Whiskey
Rams Point Peanut Butter Whiskey is bottled by Frankfort Distillers in Lewiston Maine. Years ago Lewiston Maine was made famous as the flavoring and blending point for the French distilled Pinnacle Vodka. Since then Pinnacle was sold to Beam. Sazerac acquired the actual Lewiston distillery. That’s not saying Rams Point is flavored or bottled here. Sazerac also owns a distillery in Frankfort Kentucky, and since the bottle reads bottled by, instead of bottled and produced in, I’m skeptical as to where Rams Point is actually produced. Rams Point, like Sheep Dog Peanut Butter Whiskey are both produced by Sazerac. I have yet to find a store, city, or state that sells both Sheep Dog, and Rams Point Peanut Butter Whiskey. Rams Point is made with whiskey, natural flavors, and caramel color. Read more
Review: Ole Smoky Peanut Butter Whiskey
If you have been to a bar or liquor store lately you probably already know that outside of hard seltzers there is probably not a faster growing adult beverage than peanut butter flavored whiskey. By summer I expect there to be at least a dozen peanut butter whiskey varieties. The Ole Smoky Distillery has sold a peanut butter flavored whiskey at their distillery for over two years. This new and improved Ole Smoky Peanut Butter Whiskey was just released. It is now available for sale throughout the US. Ole Smoky is probably best known for their full line on flavored moonshine, where they are the number one selling brand. 2019 was a great year for Ole Smoky Moonshine as they grew their annual sales by a number greater than the total sales of the second best selling moonshine brand. Peanut Butter is one of 14 flavors currently produced at their Gatlinburg Tennessee distillery. This distillery was known as Davy Crockett’s Distillery before they acquired it in 2017. Each flavored whiskey is made from a 100% corn whiskey base that is barrel aged for 2 years. Natural flavors including real peanut oil are blended before bottling at 60 proof. Read more
Review: Jameson Cold Brew
Jameson Cold Brew Irish Whiskey was just released as a Limited Edition. At one time there was one option for coffee flavored alcohol, and that was Kahlua. There are now dozens of coffee, espresso, and cold brew spirits including liqueurs, vodka, tequila, and rums. Curiously absent was coffee flavored whiskey. This is the first Jameson flavored expression. They had previously released their Caskmates series of beer barrel finished Jameson Whiskey. This initially consisted of an IPA Edition, and a Stout Edition. They followed that up with Topcutter IPA Edition, and Revolution Brewing Edition. As the name would suggest Jameson Cold Brew infuses their Original Jameson Whiskey with Cold Brew Coffee flavor. That flavor is made from Arabica beans grown in Brazil and Columbia. No sugar is added. Read more

Review: Sheep Dog Peanut Butter Whiskey
Sheep Dog Peanut Butter Whiskey was recently released joining a suddenly crowded peanut butter flavored whiskey field. Sheep Dog is also the second sheep themed peanut butter whiskey. Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey has a sheep image on their bottles label. Is this a coincidence? Sheep Dog is made by Sazerac Company in Louisville Kentucky with whiskey, natural flavors, and caramel color. Read more
Review: Revel Stoke Blackberry Whisky
Revel Stoke Blackberry Whisky was just released. It is one of eleven Revel Stoke flavor varieties. All start with their Original Blended Canadian Whisky base. That base is made from a blend of rye, corn and malted barley. It is triple distilled in copper stills and is aged for 3 years in charred white oak barrels. The whisky is delivered to Phillips Distilling Company in Minnesota where natural blackberry flavors are blended with the Canadian whisky before bottling at 70 proof. Read more
