Review: Sercy Spiked & Sparkling Variety Pack 2
Sercy Spiked & Sparkling is produced by Mother Earth Brewing Company in Kinston North Carolina. This should not be confused with the other Mother Earth Brewing Company based in Vista California. The breweries name was inspired by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band song, Mother Earth. The Mother Earth Brewery was built in an abandoned brick building in downtown Kinston by Stephen Hill and Trent Mooring. Trent is married to Stephen’s daughter. They were able to reuse 95% of the original brick, wood, and steel from the structure in the construction process. They strive to be as environmentally friendly as possible. Recycled blue jeans are used to insulate the walls, solar power is used, and 80% of their staff walks, bikes or skateboards to work each day. In 2013 Mother Earth Brewing became the first brewery to attain LEED Gold Certification. Sercy Spiked & Sparkling was launched Spring 2019 and it is now available in 8 flavor varieties and sold in two 4 flavor 12 can variety packs. We have already reviewed the first Sercy Spiked & Sparkling variety pack. Today we are reviewing their second. Sercy is made with an organic alcohol from cane sugar base, purified carbonated water, and organic fruit flavoring. Read more 
Review: Bold Rock Hard Lemonade Seltzer Variety Pack
Bold Rock Hard Lemonade Seltzer was released March 2021. Bold Rock is best known for their award winning hard cider, but they also produce Bold Rock Hard Tea, Bold Rock Hard Lemonade, and Bold Rock Craft Cocktails. Bold Rock first entered the hard seltzer market with the release of Bold Rock Grapefruit and Bold Rock Cucumber Melon Hard Seltzer June 2019. Unlike the Original Bold Rock Hard Seltzers that are made from a fruit alcohol base, Bold Rock Hard Lemonade Seltzers are made from a sugar alcohol base. Review: Belching Beaver Hard Seltzer Blender Series
The Belching Beaver Brewery has released the Belching Beaver Hard Seltzer Blender Series to join their previously released variety pack of hard seltzers that was launched September 2020. That’s right you now have 7 Belching Beaver Hard Seltzer flavors to choose from. This 12 can variety pack has 3 cans each of Tigers Blood, Concord Grape, Pretty in Peach, and Citrus Hibiscus. Belching Beaver is made from a traditional cane sugar alcohol base and each can weighs in with 10% more alcohol and calories than the traditional 100 calorie, 5% ABV the big boys including White Claw, Truly, and Bud Light Hard Seltzer tip the scales at. Review: Smirnoff Red White & Merry Seltzer
Smirnoff Red White & Merry Seltzer is a seasonal holiday punch with cranberry, black cherry, blood orange, and hints of ginger. It is available November and December. Smirnoff also produces Red White and Blue a hard seltzer with Cherry, Citrus, and Blue Raspberry flavors. Red White & Blue is available the other 10 months of the year. Like all of the Smirnoff hard seltzers, Red White and Merry is brewed as a malt beverage. Most hard seltzers including White Claw, Truly, and Bud Light are made from a sugar alcohol base. Read more
Review: Onda Sparkling Tequila Classic Collection
Onda Sparkling Tequila was created by Noah Gray, Max Dworin, Kelli Adams, and Shay Mitchell. Four friends obsessed with tequila soda. The team shared a vision to elevate the ready to drink alcohol space with a new take on their favorite drink. The 100% agave blanco tequila base comes from Destiladora Del Valle de Tequila, AKA Casa Maestri. Celia and Michael Maestri moved from Houston in 2008 and established the distillery. This women owned distillery currently produces 146 different tequila brands. Carbonated water, natural flavors, lime juice, and flavor specific fruit juice concentrate complete the labels ingredient list. Onda is sold in individual flavor four packs, and four flavor eight packs. Today we are reviewing their Classic Collection. We previously reviewed the Onda Tequila Seltzer Paradise Collection. Review: Central Waters Hard Seltzer
Central Waters Hard Seltzer was introduced May 2021. It is made in Amherst Wisconsin. In 1996 friends Mike McElwain and Jerome Ebel bought an old brick building in Junction City Wisconsin. They cleaned and restored it then installed used dairy equipment retrofitted for brewing beer. Paul Graham started working at the brewery in 1998. In 2001 he bought out the original owners. Today Central Waters Brewery produces 7 year round beers but they are best known for their barrel-aged beer. They recently opened Central Waters Milwaukee Pilot Brewery and Taproom in the former Captain Pabst Pilot House located in a historic 145 year old building on the original Pabst Brewing Complex. Central Waters Hard Seltzers are made with carbonated water, alcohol from sugar, natural flavors, and citric acid. Read more
Review: Big Sky Spiked Seltzer
Big Sky Spiked Seltzer was first introduced May 2019. It is produced by Big Sky Brewing Company in Missoula Montana. They developed 20-30 adult seltzers before selecting the four flavors found in their 12 can variety pack. Big Sky was founded by Neal Leathers, Bjorn Nabozney, and Brad Robinson. They brewed their first batch of beer, Whistle Pig Red Ale June 1995. Today they produce several beers including Octoberfest, Hazy IPA, Huck It, Summer Honey, Space Goat, Big Sky IPA, Powder Hound, and Moose Drool Brown Ale. Big Sky Spiked Seltzers are made with pure Montana water, a dextrose alcohol base and natural flavors. Read more
Review: Straight Shooter Juicy Dill Pickle Hard Seltzer
Shiner Beer has just released Straight Shooter Juicy Dill Pickle Hard Seltzer. Shiner first entered the hard seltzer market August 2020 with the release of their four flavor hard seltzer variety pack. Since then they have added a Lemonade Hard Seltzer variety pack and Tall Tails a cocktail inspired hard seltzer variety pack. While some may be surprised at the creation of a dill pickle flavored hard seltzer I stopped being surprised at any flavor when Jones Soda released a Turkey and Gravy flavored soda in 2003. It sold out in two hours and was followed up with the addition of Mashed Potatoes and Butter, Green Bean Casserole, Wild Herb Stuffing, Brussels Sprout, Salmon Pate, and Broccoli Casserole flavored sodas. Juicy Dill Pickle sounds tame compared to those flavors. All Shiner hard seltzer’s are made from a cane sugar alcohol base. Straight Shooter Juicy Dill Pickle is made with real dill pickles from Brew Master Jimmy Maurics family recipe with natural flavors including distilled white vinegar. Read more
Review: Pseudo Seltzer
Pseudo Seltzer was recently released by Toppling Goliath Brewing Company in Decorah Iowa. Toppling Goliath was founded in 2009 by Clark and Barbara Lewey. Toppling Goliath beer is distributed in 30 states and they create more than 40 beers that rotate throughout the year. Their year round beers include Pseudo Sue Pale Ale, Pompeii IPA, Dorothy’s New World Lager, and King Sue Double IPA. Toppling Goliath has been named the second best brewery in the world by Beer Advocates. Pseudo Seltzer is made from a malt beverage base with natural flavors. It is currently available in a 4 flavor 12 can variety pack with 3 cans each of Strawberry, Pineapple, Mango, and Watermelon. Read more
Review: Truly Holiday Party Pack
The Truly Holiday Party Pack will be released November 1. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a 12 pack a little early. These are not the first seasonal seltzer flavors, but they are Truly’s first. With new seltzer brands still arriving on store shelves its imperative that market leaders White Claw, Truly, and Bud Light keep developing new flavor options. When you run out of flavor options, you create new categories like Lemonade Seltzer, Iced Tea Seltzer, and Punch Seltzer. After that you move on to seasonal seltzer flavors or cocktail inspired seltzers. In this case Truly combined the two. Read more
