Review: Bud Light Seltzer Lemonade

Bud Light Seltzer Lemonade was released today.  I was lucky enough to get my hands on one of their 12 can variety packs.  Each 12 pack includes three slim cans each of Original Lemonade, Black Cherry Lemonade, Strawberry Lemonade, and Peach Lemonade.  This follows last years successful release of Truly Lemonade.  The Truly Lemonade 12 can variety pack is now the third best selling Hard Seltzer SKU, holding a 10% market share.  Market Leader, Mark Anthony Brands will soon join the mix but not with White Claw Lemonade Seltzer.  Instead they will names theirs Mikes Hard Lemonade Seltzer.  A tip of the cap to the brand that put them on the map when they launched Mikes Hard Lemonade, April 1999.  Mark Anthony currently sells Mikes Hard Seltzer in the UK.  Molson-Coors also promises an April release of Vizzy Lemonade Hard Seltzer.  Bud Light Seltzer Lemonade is made with water, cold fermented cane sugar, natural flavors, cane sugar, Stevia leaf extract, and malted rice.  Each flavor weighs in with 100 calories 5% alcohol, 3 carbs, less than 1 G of sugar.  They and are colored with fruit and vegetable juice.

Review: Truly Lemonade Hard Seltzer

Truly Lemonade Hard Seltzer was released January 2020.  In one year, the Truly Lemonade Mix pack has already become the third best selling hard seltzer SKU.  With Bud Light Seltzer Lemonade set to be released next week we thought it was time to review Truly Lemonade.  First we asked ourselves was Truly Lemonade the first Hard Seltzer Lemonade or the second reduced calorie Hard Lemonade?  Mike’s Lite Hard Lemonade was first released May 2011.  This is also not parent company Boston Beer Company’s first adult lemonade.  Their Twisted Tea division introduced Twisted Lemonade in 2014 to compete with Mikes Hard Lemonade.  In my opinion this was the first sub-category of Hard Seltzer.  Truly recently released Truly Iced Tea Hard Seltzer.  Each 12 can variety pack of Truly Lemonade Hard Seltzer has 3 cans each of Original Lemonade, Black Cherry Lemonade, Mango Lemonade, and Strawberry Lemonade.  Truly Lemonade is produced with an alcohol base made from cane sugar, filtered carbonated water, natural flavors, citric acid, lemon juice concentrate, cane sugar and Stevia. Review: Willies Superbrew Hard Seltzer

Willies Superbrew Hard Seltzer was started by a surfer and a goat farmer.  It is currently available in 6 flavors.  Three cans of four of these flavors are including in their 12 can variety pack.  Those are Mango & Passion Fruit, Pomegranate & Acai, Pineapple & Lime, and Blueberry & Lemon.  Ginger & Lemon, and Pear & Cinnamon are sold in their own six can packs.  Willies Superbrew is the result of a chance meeting between Nico and Willie who met over a game of beach volleyball over a decade ago.  Eventually Willie shared his prized ginger home brew with Nico.  Soon they started making big batches to sell at local farmers markets.  Every week they would sell out.  From there with help from family, friends and $20,000 from Kickstarter they formed Willies Superbrew.  Each variety is made from water, alcohol from cane sugar, fruit juice, & fruit concentrate.  3% of profits are donated to environmental causes every year.  Last year that money was given to Coral Reef Alliance. Review: Belching Beaver Hard Seltzer

Belching Beaver Hard Seltzer was launched September 2020.  It is produced by Belching Beaver Brewery in Oceanside California.  Belching Beaver Brewery was established 2012 by Tom Vogel, Troy Smith and Dave Mobley from their desire to make great beer and have a dam good time.  The year round beer list includes Hazers Gonna Haze, Deftones Phantom Bride IPA, Here Comes Mango IPA, Me So Honey Blonde, and Peanut Butter Milk Stout.  While they still love making beer, CEO Tom Vogel admits they were all packing on the pound so they developed a low carb, no sugar added easy drinking seltzer that weighs in with only 110 calories per 12 ounce serving.  Belching Beaver is currently available in 3 varieties including Passion Fruit & Guava, Pineapple & Mango, and Raspberry & Blackberry.  All are made from purified carbonated water, alcohol derived from cane sugar, and real fruit puree. Review: Two Robbers Craft Hard Seltzer

Two Robbers Craft Hard Seltzer was launched March 2019 by twin brothers Vikram and Vivek Nayar.  They started creating their hard seltzer in the 50 square foot backyard of their Rittenhouse Apartment in Philadelphia.  After months of testing they had their recipes.  Then their house was broken into and robbed.  Weeks later they were robbed again.  A year later they launched Rittenhouse Seltzer Company and Two Robbers Craft Hard Seltzer.  It is made from sparkling water, alcohol from cold fermented cane sugar, and natural flavors.  Each can weighs in with 5.2% alcohol, 110 calories, 0 sugar, and 2 carbs.  Two Robbers is available in four flavor varieties, Peach Berry, Pineapple Ginger, Orange Mango, and Watermelon Cucumber.  The 12 can variety pack I’m reviewing today does not contain Watermelon Cucumber. Review: Bud Light Seltzer Ugly Sweater Pack

Bud Light Seltzer Ugly Sweater Pack, like the Christmas displays at you local Costco or favorite retailer, started arriving on shelves around Halloween.  In some cases the Bud Light Seltzer Ugly Sweater 12 packs replaced Octoberfest and Pumpkin flavored beers that started arriving in July.  Ugly Sweater contains three cans each of Apple Crisp, Ginger Snap, Peppermint Pattie, and the previously released Cranberry.  While Anheuser Busch still has a ways to go before catching White Claw or Truly in hard seltzer sales, Bud Light Seltzer is already a strong third place in sales.  Since launching the brand with a $100 million investment in January, Bud Light has dropped ten flavors on a hard seltzer thirsty market.  Each variety is made from a cold fermented cane sugar, natural flavor, and unlike other hard seltzers malted rice.  Like the other Bud Light Seltzers each flavor hits the scale with 100 calories, 5% alcohol, 2 carbs and, 1 gram of sugar.
