Review: Buenavida Hard Seltzer
Buenavida Hard Seltzer was released July 2021 in Southern California. National Distribution began this month. It is produced at Stone Brewing Company in Escondido California. The Stone Gargoyle found on the bottles label, 12 pack box, and bottle cap are clues as to who makes this hard seltzer. Stone opened a second brewery in Richmond Virginia. Stone is the 9th largest craft brewer in the US. It was founded by Greg Koch and Steve Wagner in 1996. They were among the first to pioneer west coast style IPA. Buenavida Hard Seltzer is the result of the company’s internal challenge to make a hard seltzer that actually tastes good. It is made with brewed high quality cane sugar and natural flavors and packaged in bottles not cans. Read more
Review: Truly Margarita Style Hard Seltzer
Truly Margarita Style Hard Seltzer was just released. It is available in a 4 flavor 12 can variety pack. Truly is not the first to include agave nectar in their hard seltzer but depending on the success of Truly Margarita Style they may start a new wave of me too products. Each of their four flavor varieties share similar DNA including lime juice concentrate, cane sugar, stevia sweetener, sea salt, natural flavors, and agave nectar. Pear Juice is added for color. Each weighs in with 5.3% alcohol, 110 calories, and 2% real juice. Flavor specific ingredients will be listed in the review. Read more
Review: Bud Light Seltzer Hard Soda
Bud Light Seltzer Hard Soda will be released early January 2022. I was able to get my hands on a 12 pack a little early. Hard Soda seems like something our parents drank when they were younger, but the truth is the Hard Soda product category only goes back to 2012 when Tim Kovac created Not Your Fathers Root Beer at his Small Town Brewery in Wauconda Illinois. This is not the first Anheuser Busch produced hard soda. A-B launched Best Damn Root Beer in 2015 and followed that up with Best Damn Cherry Cola, and Best Damn Cream Soda. At one time hard soda was a big deal. All of the big boys invested big bucks to develop and promote their hard soda brands. Miller-Coors with Henrys Hard Soda, and Boston Beer Company with their Coney Island brand. Seagrams and Mikes also made hard soda. So what is different this time around? For starters Best Damn Root Beer weighed in with 239 calories and 11 carbs. The new Bud Light Seltzer Hard Soda tips the scales with 100 calories and only 2 carbs. It is made from a cold fermented cane sugar alcohol base with natural flavors, malted rice, and sucralose. Sucralose is better know as Splenda. Bud Light Seltzer Hard Soda is sold in a 4 flavor 12 can variety pack. Read more
Review: Potosi Craft Seltzer
Potosi Craft Seltzer is produced at the Potosi Brewing Company in Potosi Wisconsin. The brewery was originally founded in 1852, just a stones throw from the Mississippi river. The brewery closed in 1972 but it re-opened in 2008 following a $7.5 million restoration. In January 2015 they opened their new state of the art production facility in Potosi Wisconsin, not far from where Wisconsin, Iowa, and Illinois come together. The Potosi Brewing Company is solely owned by the Potosi Foundation which is run by a board of elected volunteers. All of their profits go to charity. Potosi brews several year round beers including Snake Hollow IPA, Cave Ale Amber Ale, Good Old Potosi, Czech Style Pilsner, and Potosi Lux Lager. They also craft over a dozen Seasonal, Barrel aged, and Signature Can Series Beers. Potosi Craft Seltzer was introduce July 2021. It is made with a traditional hard seltzer base of carbonated water and alcohol from a sugar brew. Natural flavors and cane sugar are added. Review: SeekOut Seltzer Lemonade
SeekOut Seltzer Lemonade is one of two new 12 can variety packs released June 2021 by 2 Towns Ciderhouse. The other variety pack, Tropical, replaced the Original SeekOut Seltzer variety pack. They brought back SeekOut Pineapple and Passion Fruit, and they reformulated and renamed SeekOut Key Lime + Mint to SeekOut Key Lime Mojito. They replaced two of my favorite hard seltzers, SeekOut Raspberry and Meyer Lemon, and SeekOut Clementine + Grapefruit with Apricot Mango and Kiwi Blackberry. The good news is SeekOut Raspberry and Meyer Lemon has been rebranded to Raspberry Lemonade and moved to their Lemonade variety pack. Each 12 oz. can of SeekOut Lemonade Seltzer weighs in with 5% alcohol, and 100 calories. They are crafted with water, apple wine, Meyer Lemon juice, natural flavors and flavor specific fruit juice. Absent from the ingredient list is Stevia which is used in most of the other hard seltzer lemonades on the market today. Read more
Review: Michelob Ultra Black Cherry Organic Seltzer
Black Cherry recently joined Citrus, Mixed Berry, and Mango Apricot in the Michelob Ultra Organic Seltzer Classic Collection. This 12 can variety pack was launched March 2021 and followed up the January 2021 Michelob Ultra Organic Seltzer Signature Collection. In addition to offering different flavor varieties the Classic Collection flavors are made with real organic fruit juice. All four varieties are made with organic white grape juice and a flavor specific organic fruit juice. Black Cherry includes organic dark sweet cherry juice from concentrate. Black Cherry is not sold in an individual flavor pack so I will update my previous Michelob Ultra Organic Seltzer Classic Collection review to now include Black Cherry. Read more
Review: Big Grove Squeeze Hard Seltzer
Squeeze Hard Seltzer is crafted at Big Grove Brewery in Iowa City Iowa. Big Grove Brewery first opened in Solon Iowa in 2013. Founders Matt Swift, Faye Swift, and Doug Goettsch opened a second location in Iowa City in 2017. This 28,000 square foot location is where Squeeze Hard Seltzer is produced. The 2021 Big Ten Championship Football game between the Michigan Wolverines and Iowa Hawkeyes is played on Saturday so we thought it would be a good time to check out the University of Iowa’s home town favorite hard seltzer, Big Grove Squeeze Hard Seltzer. This should not be confused with Squeeze hard seltzer, produced by Sumerian Brewing in Woodinville Washington. Big Grove Squeeze Hard Seltzer is made from filtered carbonated water, a sugar alcohol base, natural flavors, and citric acid. Read more

Review: Sercy Spiked & Sparkling Variety Pack 2
Sercy Spiked & Sparkling is produced by Mother Earth Brewing Company in Kinston North Carolina. This should not be confused with the other Mother Earth Brewing Company based in Vista California. The breweries name was inspired by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band song, Mother Earth. The Mother Earth Brewery was built in an abandoned brick building in downtown Kinston by Stephen Hill and Trent Mooring. Trent is married to Stephen’s daughter. They were able to reuse 95% of the original brick, wood, and steel from the structure in the construction process. They strive to be as environmentally friendly as possible. Recycled blue jeans are used to insulate the walls, solar power is used, and 80% of their staff walks, bikes or skateboards to work each day. In 2013 Mother Earth Brewing became the first brewery to attain LEED Gold Certification. Sercy Spiked & Sparkling was launched Spring 2019 and it is now available in 8 flavor varieties and sold in two 4 flavor 12 can variety packs. We have already reviewed the first Sercy Spiked & Sparkling variety pack. Today we are reviewing their second.
