Review: Henrys Hard Sparkling Passion Fruit
Henrys Hard Sparkling Passion Fruit is one of two hard sparkling water flavors just released by MillerCoors. The other flavor is Lemon Lime. By my count this is the seventh hard seltzer brand. Miller Coors is no stranger to creating malt beverages, as they already have a successful line of Hard Soda, Hard Cider, Hard Iced Tea, Hard Apple Ale, and oh yes they do a pretty good job brewing beer too. They are not alone, as this is the same path others including Anheuser Busch, Boston Beer Company, Smirnoff, and Mark Anthony Brands, the makers of Mikes Hard Lemonade have taken. For those not familiar with passion fruit it is most commonly used as a fruit juice or jam. The Passion fruit is native to South America from Brazil to Argentina and it is currently grown in Florida and California. If you have been to Hawaii you may know passion fruit as lilikoi. Henrys Hard Sparkling Passion Fruit is made with natural flavors and it weighs in at 93 calories. Read more
Review: Henrys Hard Grape Soda
Henrys Hard Grape Soda was just released. It is one of four hard soda flavors produced by the Blitz-Weinhard Brewing Company, a division of Miller-Coors. Henrys is named for Henry Weinhard, a German who immigrated to the US in 1856. In 1862 Henry purchase the Liberty Brewery in Portland Oregon. In 1864 he also acquired the City Brewery where he moved the entire brewing operation. This brewery was the oldest continuously operating brewery in the west until 1999 when after Miller Brewing Company acquiring the brewery, they closed it. Like many breweries, the Weinhart Blitz Brewery survived prohibition by producing premium soda. Today four of those soda’s are still produced. Henrys Hard Grape Soda is brewed as a malt beverage. Review: Henrys Hard Ginger Ale
Henrys Hard Ginger Ale was just introduced along with the previously reviewed Henrys Hard Orange Soda. While Ginger Beer originated in the UK in the Mid 1800th century, Hard Ginger Ale is riding the wave created by a tsunami named Not Your Fathers Root Beer. Ginger Beer, led by brands including Goslings, Barritts, Reeds, and Crabbies are typically mixed with dark rum to make a Dark and Stormy or with vodka and lime juice to create a Moscow Mule. Henrys Hard Ginger ale joins the previously released Coney Island Hard Ginger Ale, and Not Your Fathers Ginger Ale. Others will follow. Henrys is made by the Blitz-Weinhard Brewing Company, a division of Miller-Coors in Milwaukee Wisconsin with cane sugar and natural ingredients. The Henry’s name comes from Henry Weinhard a German immigrant who purchased a brewery in Portland Oregon in 1864, that was the longest continuous operated brewery in the West, when it was shut down following their acquisition, by the Miller Brewing Company in 1999. The brewery survived Prohibition by producing a line of soft drinks. Henry Weinhards soda is still sold today, although they do not offer a ginger ale flavor. Read more
