Review: Fair Quinoa Vodka
Fair Quinoa Vodka was launched in 2010 by company founder Alexandre Koiransky. The Fair Spirits Company also crafts a rum, gin, and several liqueurs. Fair Quinoa Vodka is the result of a two year joint research project between French Distillers and Andean farmers. Fair Quinoa Vodka is made from grain and organic quinoa grown at over 3000 meters above sea level in fertile volcanic soil in the Altiplano plateau of Bolivia. The Fair Spirits Company respect about 200 rules to make sure they pay farmers a fair price for their quinoa. The quinoa is shipped to the Cognac Region of France where Master Distiller Philip Laclie crafts this vodka. Read more
Review: Beach Whiskey Island Coconut
Beach Whiskey Island Coconut was launched in select markets in 2016 along with Beach Whiskey Original and Beach Whiskey Bonfire Cinnamon. They are in the process of building out national distribution. A quick look at the Beach Whiskey webpage only lists their Island Coconut and Bonfire Cinnamon varieties. Beach Whiskey was co-founded by a large group of people including Country Music singer Jake Owen, Gavin DeGraw, Billy Bush, J Smoke Wallin, and Ken Austin, the Chairman and Co-Founder of Avion Tequila. Beach Whiskey Island Coconut starts with a corn whiskey base that is not barrel aged, but it does undergo a unique filtration process. Natural flavors are blended before bottling at 52 proof. Some coconut flavored rums are blended with an oversweet coconut liqueur. In fact Island Coconut is made with 44% less sugar than the leading coconut brand, presumably Malibu. Read more

Blu Frog Vodka was launched in 2016 by co-founders Patrick Rochette and Romy Petit. It is made from a high quality non GMO corn base and pure Canadian spring water sourced from Quebec. It is cold distilled five times and micro filtered 5 times at the Embouteillage Solar Distillery in Terrebonne Quebec. Review: Seagrams Juicy Watermelon Vodka
Seagrams Juicy Watermelon Vodka was released June 2017. Seagrams Vodka is one of over a dozen brands owned by Infinium Spirits. Those brands include Templeton Rye, Corralejo Tequila, Kerrygold Irish Cream, and Crystal Head Vodka. A quick look at the Infinium website shows Seagrams also produces an Apple, Peach, Sweet Tea, Red Berry, Ruby Red Grapefruit, and Golden Apricot flavored vodka. The Seagrams Vodka Facebook page also includes a Grape flavored vodka. Seagrams Extra Smooth Vodka was awarded a Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2016. No information is provided as to whether this is the vodka base used for Seagrams Juicy Watermelon Vodka. Seagrams Juicy Watermelon Vodka is made from high quality American grain. It is distilled 5 times. Flavor is added at the distillery in Lawrenceburg Indiana before it is bottled at 70 proof. Read more
Review: Roca Patron Silver Tequila
Roca Patron Silver Tequila was released July 2014. The English translation for roca, is rock. Roca Patron it is named for the two ton volcanic stone Tahona wheel used to crush the single estate grown agave that is first chopped in half and steam baked in small brick ovens for 79 hours. This is the old school method that most distilleries have replaced with a more modern roller mill process. The juice and some of the agave fiber are fermented together in wooden vats for 72 hours. Review: Western Son Far East Yuzu Vodka
Western Son Far East Yuzu Vodka is the newest of eight flavored vodkas made at the Western Son Distillery. The Yuzu fruit is a Japanese citrus fruit that originated in China. It grows to the size of a tangerine. The flavor has been compared to a grapefruit with Mandarin Orange overtones. Yuzu is a popular ingredient in Japanese beer and has also been used to produce a beer for New Belgium Brewery, and Charleston Beer Works. Western Son Far East Yuzu Vodka is made from yellow corn. It is distilled ten times through a 20 foot column still and filtered four times. Water filtered through reverse osmosis is blended to reduce to proof. Review: Burnetts Watermelon Vodka
Burnetts Watermelon Vodka was introduced in 2005. While Burnetts wasn’t the first watermelon flavored vodka, Smirnoff Watermelon Twist was released in 2004, it was along with Three Olives Watermelon, one of the first three. Watermelon is one of 37 flavored vodka’s made by Heaven Hills Brands under the Burnetts label. With Pinnacle Vodka reducing their flavored vodka lineup to 30, Burnetts now only trails Smirnoff and their 42 flavors. Burnetts Watermelon Vodka is made from 100% grain in Bardstown Ketucky. Review: London Vodka
London Vodka is made at the London Alcohol Company, by one of London’ oldest distilling family’s. It is said to be made in accordance to a recipe developed in 1910 by London Chemist Mr. Leslie Matthews. English Ambassador to Russia, Sir George William Buchanan commissioned this vodka out of a need to produce a vodka to entertain Russian Diplomats when they visited London. It is made from the finest winter wheat harvested exclusively in the fields of Norfolk, Suffolk, and Cambridgeshire Counties, and the purest water sourced from the Elsenham Well. Western Son Big Stripe Watermelon Vodka is one of eight flavored vodkas created at the Western Son Distillery in a former panty factory in Pilot Point Texas. Believe it or not there are over 1200 cultivars of watermelon. Big Stripe is a member of the Crimson Sweet Watermelon family and is commonly grown in Texas. It has a light green rind and darker green stripes. The flesh is red and sweet with large black seeds. The Western Son vodka base is made from yellow corn, and is distilled ten times through a 20 foot column still and filtered four times. Review: Dulce Vida Pineapple Jalapeno Tequila
Dulce Vida Pineapple Jalapeno Tequila was just released. It joins a flavored tequila lineup that includes Grapefruit and Lime. Dulce Vida is produced in the Village of San Ignacio Cerro Gordo with 100% Organic blue agave grown for eight years to a height of about 5 foot tall. The pinas weighing up to 200 pounds are chopped and slow roasted for 20 hours in steel auto claves. After cooking, the pinas are milled and rinsed. The by-product of the milling, is a sweet liquid called “must” or honey water. A proprietary yeast strain is added and a slow open air fermentation follows. Master Distiller Carlos Jurado double distills the tequila. Real pineapple, jalapeno, and natural flavors are infused with the tequila base before bottling at 70 proof. Read more
