Review: Van Gogh Citroen Vodka
Van Gogh Citroen Vodka was introduced in 2000. It is one of 16 flavored vodka’s currently crafted at the Royal Dirkzwager Distillery in Tilburg, The Netherlands. At one time they produced 22 flavors. Van Gogh Citroen is made from a vodka base of wheat, corn, and barley. It is small batch double distilled by Master Distiller Tim Vos. The first distillation is in a column still and then it is distilled again in a pot still. Purified water is blended to reduce to proof. Lemons grown in the United States and lime grown in Southeast Asia are double infused with the vodka base for six weeks before bottling at 70 proof. Read more
Review: Van Gogh Oranje Vodka
Van Gogh Oranje vodka was introduced in 2000. It is one of 22 flavored vodka’s crafted by Master Distiller Tim Vos in Holland. Van Gogh starts with a blend of wheat, corn, and barley that is double distilled in small batches in a column still and then distilled again in a pot still. Purified water is blended to reduce to a proper level. Sweet Florida orange pulp and skin are then double infused for six weeks before bottling at 70 proof. Originally Van Gogh Oranje was made with Spanish Oranges but they made the switch a couple of years ago. I believe the bottle I am reviewing is made with the original Spanish oranges. Read more
Review: Van Gogh Wild Appel Vodka
Van Gogh Wild Appel vodka was the first apple flavored vodka when it was introduced in 2002. Appel is the Dutch spelling of apple, not the result of my over sampling. Van Gogh starts with a blend of wheat, corn, and barley that is double distilled in small batches in a column still, and then distilled again in a pot still. Purified water is blended to reduce to the proper proof level. Ripe green apples organically grown in Holland’s uncultivated orchards are double infused for six weeks before bottling at 70 proof. Van Gogh Double Espresso vodka was introduced in 2005. It is one of 22 flavored vodkas they craft in Holland. They also create 2 unflavored vodkas and a gin. Master Distiller Tim Vos starts with a blend of wheat, corn, and barley. First he double distills in small batches in a column still, and follows that up with a third distillation in a pot still. Purified water is blended to reduce to the proper proof level. Columbian Coffee beans are then double infused for six weeks before bottling at 70 proof. Read more
Review: Van Gogh Blue Triple Wheat Vodka
Van Gogh Blue Triple Wheat vodka was introduced in 2009. It is crafted with premium wheat grown in Holland, Germany, and France. Master Distiller Tim Vos selects this wheat for their flavor characteristics. The wheat from Holland is grown near the coast and is a bit salty and dry. The French grown wheat comes from the center of France and it’s taste is sweet. The German wheat fields are feed with glacial mountain water which gives it a mineral taste.
