Review: American Plains Vodka

American Plains Vodka - CopyAmerican Plains Vodka is made in Princeton Minnesota with 100% American grown corn and water extracted from a crystal clear aquifer.  The vodka is distilled 5 times and charcoal filtered.  I picked this up at Total Wine and More where they have dozens of spirit brands I have never heard of before.  American Plains Vodka is one of several that are distilled in Princeton Minnesota.  What made American Plains stand out from the other brands on the stores shelf was the staff recommendation, and the 93 it had scored from the Beverage Testing Institute.  I have sampled several vodkas made from 100% corn that were distilled in Princeton Minnesota.  Let’s see if this one stands out. Review: Grey Goose Vodka

Grey Goose VodkaGrey Goose vodka was introduced in 1997.  It is crafted by Francois Thibault a Cognac Maitre De Chai in France with soft winter wheat grown on farms in and around the fertile Picardy region of Northern France.  The wheat is sent to a dedicated mill and distillery.  After the wheat grain is fermented it is distilled once creating a high proof spirit using a five column continuous distillation process.  It then travels south to Gensac La Pallue in the Cognac region of France.  Pristine spring water that has been naturally filtered through 500 feet of Champaign limestone is blended with the vodka before it is filtered through cellulose and carbon.  Each bottle is rinsed with Grey Goose vodka to ensure no liquid other than Grey Goose touches the inside of the bottle.  Every batch of Grey Goose undergoes more than 550 daily quality control checks.
