Review: High Wire Hometown Vodka
High Wire Hometown Vodka is crafted with 100% locally grown corn. It is small batch distilled over 7 times on a hand hammered German built custom Carl copper still, and charcoal filtered prior to hand bottling. High Time Distilling Co. was opened by husband and wife team Scott Blackwell and Ann Marshall September 2013 in a rustic 6000 square foot warehouse in downtown Charleston South Carolina. It was the first legal distillery since Prohibition in Charleston. High Wire has since expanded to a 43,000 square foot facility. Only about half of the space is currently being used, but it does leave room for future expansion. High Wire Distilling Co. also crafts Hat Trick Gin, Jimmy Red Straight Bourbon, Southern Revival Rye, and Southern Amaro. Read more
Review: Ciroc Passion Vodka
Diageo and Sean Diddy Combs have just released Ciroc Passion vodka. My first thought was this is a passion fruit flavored vodka but since the bottle reads, “an exotic blend of the tropics” it may be a blend of flavors including passion fruit. Several passion fruit flavored vodka’s have been released. Only a couple remain on the market today. We have reviewed passion fruit flavored vodkas made by Smirnoff, 42 Below, Skyy, Opulent and New Amsterdam. Absolut released a Passion Fruit vodka but I have never seen it in the US. Only Smirnoff, New Amsterdam, and Seacrets, a small distillery in Ocean City Maryland currently produce a passion fruit flavored vodka. Like all of the Ciroc flavored vodkas, Passion is made from the original Ciroc vodka base. This base is crafted from a blend of Ugni Blanc and Mauzac Blanc grapes. The juice is made into a wine. It actually takes 4 bottles of wine to make 1 bottle of Ciroc. The wine is distilled four times in a stainless column still. A fifth distillation follows in a traditional custom copper pot still at Maison Villevert Distillery by Master Distiller Jean-Sebastien Robicquet, at his family owned 500 year old distillery in the South of France. Natural flavors are blended before bottling at 60 proof. Read more

Review: Dented Brick Craft Vodka
Dented Brick Craft Vodka is made from 100% locally grown corn and artesian well water that flows clean and pure from the Wasatch Mountains. The vodka and distillery are named for the well driller who was killed in a gunfight that left impressions in the bricks of his house. Some of those bricks were used to build the Dented Brick Distillery in South Salt Lake City. Marc Christensen opened the distillery March 2016 with the launch of his first spirit, Antelope Island Rum. Today they craft over a dozen spirits including vodka, gin, rum, and whiskey. Dented Brick Craft Vodka is distilled on a custom Vendome Copper & Brass Works still, then filtered, and bottled onsite. Read more
Review: Vido Vodka
Vido Vodka was launched June 2020. It is crafted in Benton City Washington from wine grapes, grown on the 2200 acre Goose Ridge Estate Vineyard and Winery. The vodka was named to honor the family patriarch Arvid Vido Monson who ended each day with a vodka cocktail and a dream to craft his own vodka. Once pressed the grapes are ferment until the wine is considered dry, about 12-15% alcohol. It is small batch distilled on a dual column 24 plate still. Before the final filtration the vodka rests for five days. It is then blended with pure water before being freeze filtered 50 times and then hand bottled and labeled. Read more

It is made from a vodka base made from corn that is distilled 5 times in a copper column still and filtered 5 times through carbon and a final time through lava rock.
