Review: The Butterfly Cannon Silver Cristalino Tequila
The Butterfly Cannon Silver Cristalino Tequila was created by the team at Biggar & Leith, owned by Mark Teasdale and the Founder of Malfy Gin, Elwyn Gladstone. It was launched in the UK September 2021 and was recently released in the US. This is one of three tequila’s in The Butterfly Cannon family of tequilas. The others include Blue, a silver tequila infused with prickly pear, and clementine with a natural blue color, and Rosa, a silver tequila infused with Mexican Pink Grapefruit Peel. Butterfly Cannon is named for the migration Monarch Butterflies take traveling through the US via Texas and into Northern Mexico where they winter in trees for around 5 months. It is one of over 150 brands of tequila produced at Destilador del Valle de Tequila. Some of the other tequilas crafted here include Cincoro, Sparkle Donkey, Siempre, Hussong’s, and Casa Maestri. The hand harvested 100% agave is grown for 7-8 years and baked in traditional steam ovens. Once distilled the tequila rests for 30 days in American oak barrels before being charcoal filtered. A portion of their profits help support butterfly conservation across the US and Mexico. Read more

Review: High Rock Vodka
High Rock Vodka was created by Dale Jr. and Amy Earnhardt in collaboration with Sugarlands Distilling Company. High Rock was launched February in Florida, and will be available nationwide in April. It is made from 100% corn and crisp clean water from the Great Smoky Mountains at Sugarlands distillery in Gatlinburg Tennessee. The spirit is distilled seven times and then triple filtered using the Lincoln County process which uses sugar maple charcoal to remove impurities. It is bottled at a very significant 88 proof. Dale won his second Daytona 500 while driving the 88 car. 88 was also the number of the car his grandfather Ralph drove for years. While most straight vodka is bottled at 80 proof High Rock is not alone. New Deal, Gilded Age, and Harridan Vodka are also bottled at 88 proof. Read more
Review: White Claw Hard Seltzer Surf Variety Pack
Mark Anthony Brands has just released another hard seltzer variety pack. While my first thought is this must be White Claw’s fourth standard hard seltzer variety pack. I feel there must be a reason this is not named White Claw Variety Pack 4. White Claw has not yet had a press release so I’m a little curious what awaits me with White Claw Surf. White Claw also produces the higher octane White Claw Hard Seltzer Surge, and White Claw Hard Seltzer Iced Tea variety packs. If you are wondering why they haven’t released a hard seltzer lemonade, they have. They just piggybacked on the worlds most famous hard lemonade product brand with their Mikes Hard Lemonade Seltzer.
