Review: 1800 Cristalino Anejo Tequila
1800 Cristalino Anejo Tequila is made from 100% agave grown in the Lowland region. 1800 is named for the year the distillery introduced the world to premium tequila. The 1800 brand was first launched in 2004 with the same formula used to distill their original premium tequila in 1800. 1800 Cristalino is made from 1800 Anejo tequila and was aged for over 1 year in new French and American oak barrels. Once matured the tequilas are married together and the spirit is finished in Port Wine casks. The aroma leads with oak, vanilla, raspberry, cooked agave, and alcohol. The sweet agave, oak, and vanilla entry is joined by caramel, building to a cherry, oak, and agave peak. It fades with vanilla, cherry cough drop, and citrus, and finishes semidry with toasted oak, caramel, vanilla cream soda, lemon peel, chocolate raspberry, and pepper.
