Review: 1800 Reserva Tequila Silver
1800 Reserva Tequila Silver is named for the first year tequila was aged in oak barrels. It was introduced in 2004 along with their Reposado and Anejo tequila. 1800 is made with 100% Weber Blue Agave that is double distilled and filtered for purity and then mellowed in American Oak barrels for 15 days. It is then blended with a touch of Reserves for extra smoothness. There is a strong earthy aroma of agave with an oak backing that springs from my glass. The citrus entry has some agave and oak flavor building to a vanilla peak. It fades with licorice and a peppery sting, and finishes with some heat, smoke, charcoal, and more oak flavor. There is not a lot of heat with this tequila but it does leave a sting, and the oak flavor is a point of distinction when comparing 1800, with other Silver tequila’s.
