Baileys Salted Caramel Irish Cream Liqueur was introduced just in time for Thanksgiving, or as some people call it, the start of Irish cream season. It replaces Baileys with a hint of Caramel. In one year Baileys has completely revamped their flavored line of Irish Cream. Gone are their Hint of Caramel, Coffee, Mint, and Hazelnut. These flavors have been replaced with Chocolate Cherry, Vanilla Cinnamon, and now Salted Caramel. By my count that leaves us one down from last year, maybe Baileys has a pre-Christmas surprise. If that’s the case I’m hoping they start sharing their Orange Truffle or Chocolat Luxe flavors. These are two flavors Baileys has kept to themselves across the pond.It pours to a thick creamy chocolate milk color. As I swirl my glass I see a curtain of cream clinging to the sides. The aroma is a blend of chocolate, caramel and whiskey. In my mouth the feel is soft and creamy. The silky cream flavored entry is first joined by milk chocolate and rich caramel with a touch of whiskey arriving at the flavor peak. It fades with salted caramel before a creamy whiskey finish. There is very little heat, and the gentle burn as I swallow seems to be more salt than whiskey related. While I’m not a fan of salted caramel, or salted beverages, Baileys has found a way of creating a salted caramel Irish cream that doesn’t taste like the salt water I use to gargle with when I have a sore throat. That is something the salted vodkas have not been able to accomplish. Well done Baileys, but I’ll still miss your Baileys with a Hint of Caramel Irish Cream.
