Brinley Gold Lime rum is one of six flavored rums made in St Kitts, the smallest country in the Western Hemisphere, by the Brinley family. They have been crafting rum since 2002. The rum is column distilled and aged for four years in oak bourbon barrels. It is then infused with natural Tahitian lime juice before being bottled at 72 proof. While I still find Brinley Gold Lime rum on the occasional liquor store shelf, it no longer appears on the Brinley web site, so availability is limited.The aroma is lime after shave. In my mouth the feel is thick and syrupy. The sugar driven lime entry is very sweet. It builds to a tart lime peak. It fades with lime zest and finishes with a rum sting in my mouth, and a rum burn as I swallow. If I was expecting a lime liqueur, I would say the flavor and feel is about right, but since I was expecting a flavored rum, I found the taste a little too sweet. While there is certainly enough natural lime flavor here, the overall sweetness makes this a rum I will save for mixing cocktails.
