Review: Camarena Tequila Silver
Camarena Tequila Silver was launched in 2010. The Camarena family immigrated to Mexico from Spain in the early 1700’s, planted their first agave fields in 1860, and opened their tequila distillery Casa Casco Viejo in 1938. Camarena Tequila is imported by E&J Gallo and it is made with 100% pure blue agave grown in the Highlands of Jalisco Mexico. The pinas are slow roasted in traditional volcanic stone hornos for several days. After a slow fermentation, the tequila is double distilled in small alembic pot stills. The aroma is earthy agave with a hint of citrus and vanilla. The roasted agave entry is joined by black pepper and citrus building to a vanilla peak. It fades with a peppery sting and some heat before finishing with a slightly bitter aftertaste.
