Review: Copper Kettle Vodka
Copper Kettle Vodka is crafted on, you guessed it a custom copper kettle still. Copper Kettle Distilling Company was founded in 2016 by Chris, Cory, and Loretta Czada in Prudenville Michigan, off the shore of Houghton Lake in 2016. After spending 1 year renovating a 90 year old log structure that would become their distillery, they were ready to start crafting spirits. They currently produce 4 rums, 4 liqueurs, 2 whiskey’s, gin, and todays review Copper Kettle Vodka. Their vodka is distilled from sugar beets. Michigan is the 4th largest sugar beet producing state in the US. Sugar beet distilled vodka is not common, but I know of at least 4 other vodkas distilled from sugar beets including BET, Orange County, Deer Camp, and Industry Standard. The aroma leads with lemon pulp, table sugar, red apple, and unpeeled banana. Additional time brings out cinnamon apple sauce notes. The sweet lemon, granulated sugar, and green banana entry builds to a creamy banana, apple, and lemon sugar cookie peak. It fades with banana peel and baked apple and finishes warm and peppery with ripe banana, Granny Smith apple, mineral water, sugar dipped lemon peel and white pepper. This is a very tasty and sippable vodka that I might score even higher if I started our review with my second 2 ounce pour in my Glencairn glass.
