Review: Don Vicente Blanco Tequila
Don Vicente Blanco Tequila is crafted by Master Distiller Felipe Camarena, a third generation Master Distiller and sixth generation agave farmer at his family owned Destilera El Pandillo in Jesus Maria. This distillery currently crafts several outstanding tequila brands including Artenom Seleccion de 1579, G4, Primo 1861, Tequila Terralta, and Volans. Don Vicente is made from 100% agave grown on their family estate in the Highland region. Once distilled the spirit is oxygenated for 24 hours and reduced to proof with pure water sourced from a 450 foot well. The aroma leads with cooked agave, tropical fruit, and pepper. Additional time brings out olive notes. The sweet agave and tropical fruit entry has a soft oily mouth feel. Bell pepper arrives building to an artichoke, mango, and agave peak. It fades with orange, and mineral and finishes with orange peel, cooked agave, mint, anise, green grass, and jalapeno pepper. I would describe Don Vicente Blanco as a full flavored traditional tequila.
