Review: Dorwood Vodka
Dorwood Vodka is distilled from wine grapes grown in Santa Barbara County at Dorwood Distillery in Buellton California. Jeff & Joanne Lockwood were small batch winemakers for 15 years at Bella Cavalli when they decided to open a distillery. They opened Dorwood Distillery in 2014. They currently craft Gin, Agave Blanco, Whiskey, Limoncello, Vodka, and Rusty Pelican a grape based bourbon/whiskey made from a vodka base. Dorwood Gin, and Limoncello are also made from their vodka base. Dorwood Vodka is distilled three times in a cutting edge 16 plate vodka tower and filtered six times through pure coconut charcoal. The aroma leads with smashed grape. Additional time brings out black licorice and caramel. The sweet grape entry builds to a juicy plum peak. It fades with caramel dipped grapes and finishes warm, semidry, and peppery, with tart grape skin taste.
