Review: Dragon Bleu Vodka

by Jeff Ellingson

Dragon Bleu Vodka ImageDragon Bleu Vodka is distilled and bottled in the Grande Champagne Region of France by Master Distiller Patrick Brisset.  His family has been producing cognac and other fine spirits since 1760.  Dragon Bleu is a combined vodka blending a mixture of spirits each distilled once and made specifically with barley, wheat, and rye with pure water from the Gensac Springs. The aroma is fresh baked bread with notes of wheat and rye.  The sweet creamy grain entry has real grain flavor that builds to a vanilla  and lemongrass peak.  While I would describe the grain taste as more wheat flavored, I pick up some rye flavor on the fade.  The finish is very smooth with southing warmth, a mild sting, and mineral taste.  This is a very well crafted vodka that outshines some of the more famous French vodkas.
