Review: Eclipse Vodka
Eclipse vodka is crafted by Jim Batdorf, Master Distiller and CEO of Solar Spirits in Richland Washington. The distillery began production in 2015. The final recipe for Eclipse Vodka was first tested on August 21, 2017. The day of the Great American Total Solar Eclipse. Solar Spirits also produces Gin, Single Malt Whiskey, Brandy, and Coffee flavored Vodka. All are crafted 100% farm to bottle using 100% renewable energy and local Washington ingredients. Eclipse is fermented and double distilled inhouse using both a pot still and column still from locally grown Washington cranberries. The aroma leads with caramel, red berry, banana, and butterscotch. The sweet fruit entry builds to a juicy cranberry, banana, and caramel peak. It fades with butterscotch and finishes semi-dry with burnt sugar, warm banana, and tart cranberry. Eclipse is smooth enough to serve chilled in a martini glass and will also work well mixed in your favorite sweet vodka cocktail.
