Effen uses Dutch wheat and spring water that has been further filtered through reverse osmosis. They use a low temperature continuous rectification process that eliminates the bitterness caused by caramelization of the sugars and all natural ingredients. Effen is filtered five times through active carbons in a bottom-up filtration process. It is then packaged in their trademark bottle with a rubber wrap around label that is both easy to grip and designed to keep their vodka cold longer, Effen would look great on any bar shelf.In the bottle the aroma is caramel. The flavor starts salty. Sweet caramel follows before a wave of salt returns. I pick up some vanilla before some medium vodka heat and a dry salty finish. I will be the first to admit I prefer my caramel salt free, but even a salted caramel fan may find this a little over seasoned.
