Review: Grannys Gingerbread Cream Liqueur

grannys-gingerbread-cream-liqueur-copyGrannys Gingerbread Cream Liqueur was just released.  It is produced and bottled by Sazerac in Louisville Kentucky.  Grannys  is made with neutral grain spirits, heavy creams sourced from Vermont dairies, and natural flavors including vanilla.  Fresh baked gingerbread cake served with a dollop of fresh whipped cream is one of my favorite holiday treats.  If Granny Gingerbread Cream Liqueur comes close to this flavor expression, I will be very happy.It pours to a milky caramel color.  The aroma is brown sugar and graham cracker.  The initial vanilla entry is joined by fresh cream.  Brown sugar flavor arrives at the midpoint and becomes the lead flavor on the fade.  Gingerbread flavor finally arrives on the finish balanced with cream, that gives way, leaving a gingerbread aftertaste.   As expected with a 25 proof spirit, Grannys has only gentle warmth and a soft alcohol tingle.  There is a mild alcohol burn on the back of my throat.  Grannys Gingerbread Cream is a tasty cream liqueur, but in fairness I would have liked a little more gingerbread flavor, and a little less brown sugar.
