Review: Grey Goose L’Orange Vodka
Grey Goose L’Orange vodka was introduced in 2000. It was the first flavored vodka they created. They now craft five flavors to complement their original. It is made in France with Ble Panifiable Superieur wheat grown in the Picardy region of France, and pristine spring water that has been naturally filtered through Champaign limestone from the Cognac region of France. It is distilled using a five column distillation process. Spring water filtered through double reverse osmosis is blended with the vodka before it is filtered through cellulose and carbon. Florida grown oranges are delivered to a French parfumerie where the flavors and aromas are extracted. These essential oils are then blended with their original vodka. Every liter of L’Orange contains the natural essence of 1 kilogram of fresh oranges. The aroma is fresh peeled oranges with a hint of vodka. The flavor enters with a soft natural orange and vodka flavor. The orange flavor builds in intensity to a fresh squeezed orange juice peak as it warms in my mouth before fading with a mild to medium mouth warming and more vodka flavor, before a long orange rind finish. If the 80 proof weight, and vodka flavor is too much to drink on the rocks, there is plenty of natural orange flavor here to stand out in a cocktail.
