Review: High Noon El Pres Pack

by Jeff Ellingson

High Noon El Pres Pack was just released.  This 12 can variety pack includes “El Pres” Dave Portnoy, of Bar Stool Sports four favorite High Noon flavors.  Dave has built a media empire including Bar Stool Sports and his One Bite Pizza Reviews are viewed by millions making him the worlds number one pizza influencer.  His support of High Noon has helped make High Noon the worlds number one selling hard seltzer.  Dave was given the opportunity to sample several potential new flavors of High Noon Hard Vodka Seltzer.  Not only was Tangerine the best of the potential new flavors it now tops his top 4 High Noon flavors list.  Currently the only way to purchase High Noon Tangerine is in the El Pres Pack.  This four flavor 12 can variety pack includes three flavors each of Dave’s four favorite flavors.  Those flavors in ranked order are Tangerine, Passion Fruit, Pineapple, and Pear.  The El Pres Pack is a Limited Edition Mix Pack which means it will be around as long as you keep buying it.  Only Tangerine is new so I’m just reposting my previous review of Passion Fruit, Pear, and Grapefruit.

High Noon Tangerine:  The aroma leads with fresh peeled tangerine.  The sweet fresh tangerine entry builds to a tart tangerine peak.  It fades with sour tangy tangerine leaving whole tangerine with creamy soda and soft vodka taste on the finish.  As a flavor comp Tangerine has the same punch of tart citrus flavor as HN Grapefruit.  When you set the bar as high as High Noon has it’s hard to produce a flavor that is better than any of the previous 13 released flavors.  Tangerine comes close but it does not join my top four list.

Grade: B+

High Noon Passion Fruit: The aroma leads with sliced passion fruit.  The sweet passion fruit entry has notes of kiwi and pear building to a juicy pineapple and pear peak.  It fades with tangy pineapple and finishes with ripe pear and tart juicy passion fruit.

Grade: A

High Noon Pear:  The aroma leads with juicy fresh pear.  The bright juicy pear entry builds to a ripe pear peak.  It fades with lemon citrus and pear puree, and finishes with sliced canned pears in a light syrup, lemon juice, and subtle corn vodka taste.

Grade: A-

High Noon Pineapple:  The aroma leads with sliced pineapple.  Additional time brings out notes of corn vodka.  The sweet pineapple entry is joined by tangerine building to a tangy  pineapple orange peak.  It fades with juicy pineapple and creamy corn vodka, foamy sparkling water and finishes with tart pineapple and orange taste.

Grade: B+

Bottom Line:  I liked High Noon Tangerine but it does not make my top 4.  After resampling my Top 4 I did make a slight adjustment.  The same 4 just a different order.

  1. Peach
  2. Passion Fruit
  3. Pear
  4. Grapefruit
