Review: Horny Goat Laka Laka Pineapple Hefeweizen Beer

by Jeff Ellingson

Horny goat pineappleHorny Goat Laka Laka Pineapple Hefeweizen beer is a summer seasonal beer brewed in Wisconsin.  It is sold in six packs of cans.  Currently Horny Goat brews 4 year round beers and 10 seasonal beers.  Laka Laka is brewed in the traditional Hefeweizen manor with pineapple juice added post fermentation.  It is canned at 5.1 ABV with 17 IBU’s.It pours to a cloudy yellow color with a thick white head.    The aroma is beer with notes of banana and clove.  The flavor enters with a banana beer taste.  Pineapple joins the party before fading with some clove flavor and a touch of hoppy bitterness.  If you are looking for a burst of pineapple flavor, you will be disappointed.  Can I suggest a pineapple cider?  Ace and Ciderboys both brew very flavorful pineapple ciders.  If you are a fan of Hefeweizen beer you will not be disappointed.  I would describe to Laka Laka experience as more hefeweizen than pineapple.
