Review: Jose Cuervo Tradicional Cristalino Tequila
Jose Cuervo Tradicional Cristalino was first released in Mexico and later launched in the US April 2022. It is made from 100% Blue Weber agave grown at the base of the Volcan de Tequila. The agave is slow baked in brick ovens and distilled at La Rojena, the oldest distillery in Mexico. In 1758 Jose Antonio de Cuervo was granted land in Tequila Mexico by the king of Spain to harvest blue agave. 37 years later Maria Guadalupe de Cuervo was awarded the first license to produce tequila. Jose Cuervo Tradicional Cristalino is made with a blend of JC Tradicional Reposado that was aged in new American oak, and Tradicional de la Familia Extra Anejo aged in French and American oak. The tequila is then filtered to remove the color and intensify its purity of flavors. The aroma leads with cooked agave, vanilla, oak, and tropical fruit. Additional time brings out toffee and black pepper. The sweet agave entry is joined by vanilla and green olive building to a tropical fruit and caramel peak. It fades with vanilla, cooked herbal agave, butterscotch, and saline. The finishes is dry, with sea salt, toasted oak, herbal agave, toffee, lemon peel, and black pepper.
