Libre Pineapple Tequila is one of seven flavor infused tequilas made from a 100% Weber Blue agave base at Tequila el Viejito, a distillery with 80 years of experience producing the highest quality tequila. The other flavors include Melon, Red Pepper, Mango, Cinnamon, Mint Chocolate, and Cucumber. The agave is grown for 8-10 years in the Highland Region before it is hand selected and cut into quarters and brick oven cooked. It is double distilled in stainless steel and copper stills. Purified well water is blended onsite to reduce to proof. Natural flavors including pure cane sugar are infused before bottling at 70 proof.
The aroma is equal parts pineapple juice and 100% Weber Blue agave. The sweet pineapple juice entry has a cane sugar enhanced sweetness. While sweet I would not describe it as over sweet or syrupy. Agave and vanilla arrive at the midpoint. The fade brings out more agave with cooked zucchini taste, and less pineapple and sugar. The finish is warm sweet and smooth with a sprinkle of pepper. Vanilla flavor rejoins the pineapple and agave with a hint of spearmint completing the journey. Libre Pineapple Tequila may be a little sweet for the tequila purists to enjoy, but if the thought of mixing juicy pineapple with a well crafted 100% blue agave tequila sounds good.
